S@W rollcage?????

i have heard that harbor fright sells a tubing notcher for like $70? did any one use this one? what size hole saw do you need? did the tool come with one or did you have to get one? thanks guys, sorry for all the Qs, thanks agin

I bought this one from http://vansantent.com

It is better made than the cheapo from HF, The shaft runs on bearings instead of a brass sleeve that wheres out after 3 uses. But it does cost $197.50 :eek1: I have no complaints about it.

what did you power it with? what size hole saw do you need to use? did you were any thing out while cutting? thanks

I believe you just use a standard electric drill, with a hole saw attachment for the same size as the tubing. You probably wear out the holseaw while cutting.

Yes you are right

Ceg, this is the 10 point cage right? There is some confusion on the family cage? Is that the same thing as the 10 point? Or is another option ontop of the 10 point? I thought the 8 was regular and the 10 point was the family cage. I am trying to get basically the same starting cage as you highlighted and I hope that is a 10 point. If it is a 10 point and the family cage option then I better get back to ordering more stuff from S&W

I used the cheap Harbor Freight unit and we have built 2 full cages, sliders, and bumpers with no problem. Just get cheap hole saws and wd-40 to lube when cutting. You will go through hole saws. We use a drill press with our notcher.

I just ordered one, and the 10 point is not the family cage. The 10 point just offers 2 more points of frame/floorboard contact than the 8 point. When I bought my 10 point from them (about 3 days ago), they also offered me the family cage tubing for like $150 more. So no, the 10 point is not the same thing as the family cage.

What confusion I have is if you look at this picture which Ceg has highlighted the S$W tube red. There are only 10 points of contact. How can you get 10 points of contact without the rear bars? Or maybe my question should be is Ceg's cage a 10 point or 10 point and family cage? What tubes are included with the family cage option for 150?

all the pics of these are installed in full convertables. In a half cab is it possible to remove it once its tacked together to complete the welding and paint it or will it have to be done in place?

welding access....

you could always just cut the roof off and build it... then weld the roof back on.... That's what I'm doing...:D This is another S&W cage, with a few changes... Can't see it in these pics, but I also came off the a-pillar bars, through the firewall, out to the front frame rails in front of the radiator.

Seriously, my old roof section was so rusted it would have taken many many days to repair... I found a decent roof for $50 at the local yard...

Why are you scrapping the cage? Are you going to cut it up and use it? If not I might be interested in getting it from you.
