sadly i have a heep question

I can tell you honestly, the only way she is going to get 20 MPG is to run in nuetral downhill at all times. Jeeps are not known for getting great mileage, they have about the same aerodynamics as a brick wall. Just something to explain to her.

My buddy as an 04? wrangler, granted a semi heavy foot sometimes, but meiculously taken care of, think he averages aroudn 17 or 18 mpg. He has a 4.0

Was looking for a wrangler before I got the k5 bug, lol.
Like they said as far as engines, avoid the 4cyl, and avoid the 4.2 6cyl, both basically junk and you will curse yourself for getting them, 4.0 is the way to go.

What they said. The guys I've known with a variety of TJ's over the past few years, including stockers with 4-cyls, have NEVER gotten past the high teens with most of the 4.0L guys stuck in the mid teens.

From what I've heard of the newer models with the minivan V6 no one's exactly happy with the power and the mileage is worse.

father-in-law has a 2001 wrangler sahara with auto, It drives nice even wheels pretty well, he did some oversize tires and wants a little lift. But yeah 20 could be tough. 18 or 19 yeah

well i told her that she wont see 20's and it would be mid teens and she is cool with that, she works 4 blocks from her apartment and i end up driving everywhere we go anyway:doah: so she isnt totaly worried about gas. so ok auto's are ok and the 4.0 seems to be the best motor yall are recommending. and specific year after 97 that is the best? she has about $9k to spend so im trying to find the best set up for her.

My dad has a '92 YJ 4 cyl 5 speed and it's awesome. No, it doesn't have enough power, but man, that wrangler sure is alot more fun than my K10 i hate to admit.

Get a 4.0. And, the Jeep AW4 autos are great. They're more reliable than the 5 speeds.

she was hoping for at least low low 20's i tried to talk her into a truck but she is holding strong on the jeep
:haha::haha::haha:

I had a 06 Rubicon with 33's six cylinder, six speed and I got 11.45 MPG regularly on a 60 mile highway trip with four hours off road and 60 mile highway back. Never saw 15 on all highway trips...

Yeah I have a freind with a Rubicon. He is pissed that my K5 with a 350 gets better MPG than he does.

I had a 1993 Cherokee with a 5 speed trans than got over 20MPG. It was a nice little 4x4.
