One of our CUCVs (the K5 type, not the 3/4 ton truck, i dont know if they are called the same thing or not) needed new wheel bearings, so the motor pool just ordered an entire new 10bolt front end, the old one is out, and sitting in the open.

Is there anything worth taking off of this, for my 10bolt front end in my K5? I have 3.42's and an open diff. Did the cucv's have a limited slip?
possibly bigger axles? I have motive gear manual lockout hubs, would the lockouts be stronger in this?

Im currently deployed, so i cant just take the entire axle home with me.
Thanks!

eh. not really. you can probably take the manual lock outs and whatever other little internal pieces you can steal. i used to take all that stuff cause i ran 38s on my 10 bolt and was always chewing up bearings and spindles. but really other then the manual lockouts due to your situation theres really nothing worth anything on a 10 bolt

i got a military fluid spec book and it actually labels the m1009 as a 3/4 ton for some reason... i really dont see any difference compared to a regular blazer, maybe just the diesel and hydroboost braking system

There is nothing special about this axle as compared to a civilian version. Initially I was going to say just grab the whole thing and take it home to use for spare parts but that's not really an option once you stated you were deployed. The axle shafts would be nice to have as spares but probably not something you can just throw in a gear bag and bring home, other than that maybe grab the locking hubs. Not like a front 10-bolt is hard to come by or expensive.

Thanks for the input, guys.
I was thinking about stealing the diff cover, cleaning it, and painting something on it. Maybe a nice texas flag.
The upside to this is the fact they can still order parts. Our parts guy said they can get any part, new still. I wonder if they can get a brand new dash. I wouldnt mind some seats, either.
