Would you trust a MAF or O2 sensor from a pull and pay?

I also need an alternator.

This is for my s10 blazer

Its so much cheaper it could be worth a try.

salvage yards can be a good deal but some things I just prefer to buy new if I can. O2 sensors I would definitely buy new, possibly get the salvage yard maf depending on how bad I needed it and how poor I was.

Might try a salvage alternator though. Do they have a way to bench test it or offer any kind of warranty? If they offer a warranty take it to oreillys and have them bench test it.

I was kinda thinking the same with the o2, im going to try to clean my MAF first hoping that works. as for the alternator, yeah they offer warranty. if it doesn't work i can bring it back and swap it for another one.

I'd have no problem running them, IF the price is right.

Thing with wrecking yard vehicles is that many of them are in there because the previous owner was an idiot that had a problem with the vehicle, and instead of diagnosing the problem, spent money on new parts, until they ran out of money, still didn't have a running vehicle, and it ends up there. See parts ALL the time on wrecking yard vehicles that still have the part label on them.

If you can install the part quickly (to get use out of the warranty) and again, cost vs. new is worth a shot, go ahead. Just look around for ones that are obviously newly installed. I'd not waste time with an O2 sensor that looked like it was 10 years old, but the one that still has shiny spots on the wrench flats from install? Sure.

Some of those parts though, its a good idea to do some research and find what interchanges...doesn't have to be the same donor necessarily.

2004 s10 blazer 4x4. i think they are around 75+$ 8$ at the yard

i wish all my k5 needed was an o2 sensor. needs a tranny instead.

I see newly installed parts in junked vehicles quite often too,and I am not afraid to buy them "used" as long as the price is cheap and they'll at least let you try another one if it proves defective...my friend "shops" at salvage yards quite often, lots of his customers are low income (or just cheeep bastids!) and either cant afford or dont want to pay the new cost ,when its a costly item like a fuel pump,or gas tank,etc..

Often he can find a decent tank with a recently replaced pump for 100 bucks less than the new pump would cost...he tells the customers if he has to do the job twice because the parts weren't "good" thats not his fault, and he'll have to charge them twice for the labor though..even if that happens, the customer often still ends up paying less than a brand new part would have cost..and the yards here are pretty good as far as low prices if you pull it,and will give some kind of warranty,or at least a "try another one" policy..

NTK Part # 21516 ? $50 on Rock Auto.

They have cheap ones for $26.99, which I personally wouldn't buy (dealt with junky o2 sensors, pretty sure they pay for themselves in wasted fuel from bad MPG as they get wear out quickly. Bosch were the worst in my '96 K1500). But, I'd rather pay ~$30 a piece and get new ones, than $8 a piece, lay in the dirt that the messicans pee on in the hot sun, and possibly get a good unit.
