Sanderson Headers clearance issues.

Hard for me to tell from the pics but they seem ok. Best to check to see if there’s any movement when you jack up the engine. And is it an optical illusion that your engine looks tilted back more than normal? Did you lower the t-case spacers?

I didn’t do the engine swap so not sure if it’s messed up or not but here are some more pics.

I did jack the engine without undoing any bolts and I was able to get the header to pass through. The pretty satin black is no more though - lots of scratches all over. Not a beauty queen truck either so I guess it’s fine..

@Chevy454CUCV I don't know that you got ceramic coated headers. It looks to me that someone sent or boxed up the wrong set. The coating shouldn't scratch off easily.
I just got a set of Sanderson coated headers for my Jimmy, they aren't black, which is their shipping paint.

Get your wussy small block shit outta here.
This is fat block stuff in here bud.:deal:

I chose my headers without the ceramic coating and they came bare, not black.

Ok,
but that still doesn't explain the color.
I don't know if they offer black ceramic.
But mine didn't scratch off, regardless.
I know that some manufacturers paint them black for shipping, I don't know about Sanderson.

And @beags86 , header coatings don't care what size of tube they get applied to!

:flipoff13:

:haha:

What I am trying to get at , is that I paid extra to get the ceramic coated headers and things that were posted made me think that the OP didn't get coated headers from Sanderson. If he didn't know, he could get screwed! So I hope to be helping to make sure that isn't the case.

I would agree, I was focused on the headers not fitting in the OP, but I would say that's shipping paint. A real ceramic coating shouldn't be scratching off that easy

@Chevy454CUCV have you fired it yet?

I wish I had bought mine coated, I got them bare to save money. Once I got them they were too nice to bomb them with cheap header paint so I sent them to Jet Hot - mistake. The money for coating was the same but I had to have them recoated because the first color was awful.

Note: the jet hot color samples online are glossy, in real life they are not.

Thanks guys! There certainly is a thickness to these that seemed like more than paint to me but I’ll get some closer pics set up to be sure. Being such a tight squeeze they definitely rubbed During install but I’ll look more closely when I get it back this morning. It’s at the exhaust shop getting piped.

the 3" exhaust with super 10's definitely sounded a little more tough than it does now but was too loud when driving far for sure.

Man, I love this thing. Everything about a cucv always says slow/ underpowered/ lame diesel.

This thing does not say that!!

Appreciate that @beags86 ! It was built from a previous owner to sound like it’s going fast pulling a heavy ass weight lol. Setup to be a tractor pull truck but my practical mods have calmed it down a bit.

More work than I expected to be doing to it but I guess that gives me more rights to call it mine!

On to fix various engine leaks, dial in timing, and adjust valves next..
