Sasquatch

92 K3500 CCLB 454 TBI / 4L80E This is the rebuild of a rig that was purchased recently. This is to serve as a family tow rig that doesn't have a payment.
Damn! Looks badass! There is something I like about those utility beds on lifted trucks.

Getting the crane support fabbed up today. Also getting the overload bumpstops installed. All I have at the house currently is the arc welder. Miller Trailblazer 251nt so I'm really just gluing it together. I'm headed over to a buddies shop to burn everything in with mig. This ones gonna be a heavy one.
As much as I'm cussing this build. I already have ideas for pickup number 2. To bad @muddysub has headed east. Should've come take a look at Oregon.

Got the cracks in the body welded up. Door pins/bushings in the drivers door. Welded light mounting tabs on the body. Welded in the etrack on the inside of the bed to hold the oxy/acetylene bottles.

Tomorrow morning I'll pull the bed back off and start sanding. Hopefully be painting in the afternoon.

50/50 paint job to get this thing close to the same color.

It's close to being able to clean up some of these messes around the garage. Something about unloading a 14foot service body. Tearing apart one rig. Building a second rig and the farm keeps going. Once I can pull the trailer, I'll haul a load of scrap in. Its getting a little bit of a hassle to not know where exactly that tool is I need. I know it's in the garage or in one of the boxes outside tje garage.

Pulled the old stereo out and look what I found. Played out a new wire harness for the new Kenwood. With as many wires as I will have running behind my dash. It needs to be routed and installed clean. So with everything that I'm installing in the dash. I'm going to take the time to do it right. I flogged on tje Limo pretty hard and usually had to do some emergency repairs to get home. Many of those repairs stayed on the rig as I would forget about them until it was time to take it back out. Sasquatch will be a daily driver so there isn't any room for shortcuts in this department.
I have a rasberrypi 4b that is also going behind the dash somewhere. I'm hoping to tie the sound into the new Kenwood dash unit. I have a HD monitor that is powered off USB. Bluetooth keyboard with touchpad. I'm hoping this will replace my tablet in the truck and I'll be able to cut one unit off my cell bill.

Do you mind taking pics of your bed where the crane mounts? I have same bed and just picked up an Autocrane 3203

I'll post up the finished product in a couple days if you can wait. They require a support inside the bed that ties into the truck frame. Otherwise you rip the bed apart. It would be a lot easier if the rear compartment was full height instead of the long upper and little cubby hole on the bottom. I'm thinking I might actually like it all right though now that I'm laying it out.

I can wait, I have the exact same box , so I’m definitely looking for ideas.

@yellowK20 what are you gonna do with it?

Personel use mostly , Just about all of my side work is done remote (fly in only) but I occasionally will do engine overhauls for a local contractor .

Now that my day job is riding a desk , I will bring all my tools home , so who knows ?

For those that know and those that dont. Google RasberryPi and you'll possibly go down a rabbit hole. I did when my brother in law introduced me to them. I bought one for Brycen in the house to play with and one for this project. Pretty sure it's going to be a game changer for me. I've been using my tablet in the truck for about 4 years now. It has its limitations and I believe this will fix that.

The switch panel is wired to the battery junction box. Turn on Sasquatch and the service box will be live. I was hoping to use the square factory blanks to hold a couple more switches for the chassis stuff. They dont quite fit.

The two holes under the factory light switch holds the chinese switches ok for now. They will get replaced when I find something else for the three on the other side under tje heater controls.

I've been thinking about getting one of those Raspberry Pi to play with.

I was able to get it weighed today. Nothing in the bed. Crane is tje only thing mounted currently. It weighed in at 8500lbs with myself in the drivers seat.

I got the lights stripped off of the Limo and mounted on the bed. I was able to get the wires soldered and ran to the inside of the bed. Tomorrow I'll try to hook everything up.

Heres a question for everyone.

4l80 vs nv4500 or zf6

Which one should handle the heavy load the best?
