Who's running them on the street?
Whatcha got?
Suggestions ?
Problems?

My other LUV is a 79 Chevy LUV truck
with a Gen 1 350 small block / T-350 trans
10 bolt rear, not sure of the ratio yet.
The truck is a fairly new purchase, so I'm unsure about the bottom end, compression ratio, bore, cam specs etc...it has a open plenum Edelbrock torquer intake w/ 650 holley D/P...
It runs very well and is pretty fast,,,but no track times yet..

Im currently reworking the ignition system from a HEI to a MSD pro billet w/ 6AL-2 box.
Also replacing the intake with a Weiand street warrior dual plane along with a QF-650 carb.

At this stage,,,I am thinking of swapping the heads out as well...I have been looking at Brodix IK series heads..just wondering if anyone out there has run them or can offer any suggestions...

Go !!

I like those heads, except I dont think I can use angle plug heads with the headers in the truck...and unfortunately..being as this is a V8 LUV swap,,I dont have many, if any other header choices....I will have to contact Hooker and see if my pipes will clear ...I like the fact that those heads are 62cc also...I don't think the C/R in the motor is anything radical..more than likely flat tops...I need to pull the heads and take some measurements.. I bought the truck off of a lot that knew nothing about the engine build....

Oh,,,and it only being a 20 min drive to the new Summit racing in Arlington Tx. for me,,
It's real easy to blow the budget....

im running edelbrock 60899 ^^ what he says^^

Those are more of what I am thinking will work...how do they perform?? Any install issues? They are also 2.02/ 1.60 valves...nice!

you have to flatten(grind) 2 sides of the washers that go in the center of the head for head bolts, they perform great. get good gaskets and stay away from stainless arp intake bolts they suck.

yes they're not cheap but i had the money and at the time it was 1900 a pair...
summit has a few options with aluminum heads

bumping my own thread... I know there has to be more of you guys out there running aluminum heads on your rigs...

I'm going to pull a valve cover and see if I can get the numbers off the cast iron heads in place now to see what they are... should be able to figure out that cc those are...

Kain,,,what type of rockers are you running ?

Thank you sir!!
I'm leaning more towards your setup...
I would like to go a little more radical, but without knowing the history of the rest of the motor, I think your setup is a safe choice. ..

If I ever have to pull the motor, I will get crazy then..

I was slightly opposed to the ready to run distributor, but my engine builder said he'd been using them in a lot of builds with no problems. He's competed at engine Masters a few times. So he knows how to build some power.

I have a set of Edelbrock E street heads on my '72 350. Unfortunately I don't have many miles on them. I will tell you that they seemed to fit well, only a little moving of the guide plates as stated in the instructions. I used the 64 CC ones, part #5089.
I had to get longer pushrods as per the installation guide.
The exhaust ports were apparently moved slightly as I had some slight problems with manifolds hitting head bolts. The full length headers that I tested fit, but I went with center dump shorts from Sanderson which needed a dimple to clear one head bolt.
