Anybody have serpentine style water pump pulley(s) they can measure?

My water pump pulley doesn't line up with my crank pulley by 1/4"+ and it's causing the belt to try and crawl out of it's "groove". All other pulleys and accessories appear to line up correctly but the water pump pulley is noticably out of alignment, inboard towards the face of the motor.

My pulley measures ~2 5/8" from the fan clutch surface to the outside edge of the furthest lip. It appears I need a pulley measuring 2 1/2" or just a hair less.

Fwiw, I'm running a Kwik Perf SBC serpentine belt conversion on a BBC. Per the instructions, I'm using a specific 454 crank pulley (purchased new at GM) and the rest is off of a salvage yard early 90's truck SBC.

I've used those before on other motors w/ v-belts but they are only 1/16" or so thick. For my current situation I'd need a stack ~1/4"+ which seems like way too much for those 4 little fan clutch studs.

I've used a 1/4" thick spacer before on a v-belt set-up. I put 5-6000 miles on it before letting the truck go. I thought a serpentine set-up put less pressure on everything. :dunno:

I hve no idea about the pressure on the pulley, I was just thinking that was a ton of spacers. I see a pack is equal to 1/4" total so if I can't find a different pulley I'll end up going that route.

There were several styles of SBC and BBC serp setups. There was early style for the trucks bbc and sbc, they had stamped steel brackets. Then GM went to the cast brackets. On top of that, cars had their own set of serp brackets. Did the kit specify any type of brackets that should be used? I'm not sure if any of those setups had different depth pulleys. I have here an '88 Camaro pulley I can measure, as well as a '91 454 (steel bracket) pulley that I can measure.

I'm using a cast aluminum, early 90's truck serpentine set up.

Here's the kit -

I just reread the kit page again and it does give a part number (10085760) for the pulley so I guess I'll have to see if it's visible tomorrow.

My 454 pulley was handy so I measured it. Sitting on the workbench, overall width/thickness was roughly 2 1/8 inches. That would be fan clutch surface to rearmost belt surface area. It's a smooth pulley without any lips.

I've definitely got the wrong pulley. I just googled for pics of that part number (10085760) and I see it's a smooth pulley like yours, the one I have has 2 lips to guide the belt.

Looks like I'll be buying a pulley this week.

Thanks for checking your stuff!

What has me curious is I'm pretty sure the sbc Camaro pulley has the lips on it. I'll have to get a look at it and measure it too.

I'm having same problem w my alternator belt could it be the water pump is bad?

I have a set that came off a 91 3500 HD with the 454. I had a set off something that was on my car, lined up perfect.

Is any part of your set up new / recently installed? If yes then misalignment could be your issue. If not, anything could be the culprit, check the water pump shaft for play. ANY play is bad.
