SBD"s (running) 69 Blazer updates (The 1st year)

Damn dude, you have some tough luck it seems. Glad it's all been non-catastrophic and you've been able to fix the issues fairly easily. I love the green rims btw, they really set it off:waytogo:

I don't consider any of this bad luck. I figure this is just shaking out the bugs from a frame off build. The one thing I am taking away from this whole thing is DON"T try and save $$$$$$$$$$$$$ by reusing old parts once you have started the "Might as Well" thought process. So far everything I have had to fix and or replace was a cleaned up used part of one type or another. Which leads me to the next story in the quest to become the best Anti-Prius I can be.

FRONT DRIVE LINE ISSUE-- Easy fix took it to the local drive line shop, small discussion about problem and $450 TA-DAA problem solved. I hope! We decided that it was that the slip part was too short and under compression it was binding and with the pedal buried to the floor it was binding up and then twisting off at the transfer case bolts. Bought some HID's because driving at night sucks with regular lights built a quick bar and got ready for next time out.

Shake down #5 - Occitillo Wells - New Years 2012
Blazer is running great got 4X4 & lights, load it on trailer and head out. Get there unload & set up camp. Fire up the Blazer and go out for a QUICK Run:doah:. Now I'm not kidding it was running sweet at home but we get about 1/2 mile from camp and I'm noticing 1st gear starting to make a "Hea I've got marbles in my mouth" sound. I shift into 2nd and it clears right up so I think no problem and continue down the wash clicking along at about 40 or 50 mph at around 4500rpm click into drive and It's like somebody stomped on the parking brake and the motor stalls. Needless to say it was not pretty inside the cab, 3 dogs flying around , drinks spilling everywhere and me not quite realizing what is happening. We slide to a stop, now I'm thinking the front end ,drive shaft, hubs WTF! again. Get out and check everything is still connected and looks to be in good order. I re-group and start to take off again and same thing marbles, fine, parking brake. Head back to camp in 2nd park it and have a couple (Insert favorite vise). Cut to the chase the trans is Toast, and seeing as it's toast I run it hard in 2nd all weekend rolling 5500rpm at about 75-80mph. 2nd never went totally out. Brought it home and pulled the trans and had it rebuilt (Heavy duty this time) turns out it had regular 8 bearing clutches, I had them put the heaviest ones with 32 bearings. I'm in the middle of putting it back in right now so sometime in March will be Shake-Down #6 back out at Dumont Dunes. I've got some pics and vid from the last outing I will post up next.

P.S. The front drive line did not break this time.:woot:

O-MAN that is a way long story. I'm the dad who was/is sponsoring my kids for what seems like a never ending barrage of activities. It all started out in the Dessert with dirt bikes. Mostly it's about families and doing stuff with your kids, It was at first just a thing we joked about but then became t-shirts & stickers. I still have bunches of stickers. It was just fun to see how far we could get it to go. I tried to make it a brand but I'm really not that good at business and it needed somebody to give it a full time effort but I already have a full time job so it got neglected. I was in several stores as well with the tee's and they sold pretty good. Currently I still have it trademarked and registered but just don't have time or money to really make it roll. You got kids? If so I'll hook you up with some stickers. That goes for any of you guys. "all ya gota do is ask"
