Well the picture below isn't the greatest but it is dark. Got home a little while ago from helping a friend move. He told me last week that he had some stuff he wouldn't be needing when he moved and that I could have them if I helped him out. So I skipped worked today for a few hours, which I am at work now making up lost time, and helped him move. Now I would have done it just because he asked me to and I have known him for quite a few years. Well we get done loading his rental truck, minus the stuff in the garage because he is having a yard sale this weekend, and I say my good byes (moving back to Oregon after 23 years) and go to get in my truck. He says hey you forgot your stuff. So I then knew he was not BS'ing about it and he helped me load it into my truck.

Anyways, here is what it is.

A Thermal Dynamics Cutmaster 81. Looks to be unused by the way the torch and the plugs look. The outer case is smashed up from what looks like some cinder blocks had fallen on it.

Some various 10lb spools of mig wire, an extra mig gun, along with some consumables and some Hobart welding rods.

The big box in the background is a brand new Lincoln Electric Power Mig 215. Never opened.

He bought this stuff a few years ago to restore a 68 Mustang. I helped him with alot of the engine work and general muscle on the car. He never used it as he never had his garage wired for 220. He said since I helped him move and helped out with his Stang that it was all mine and he didn't feel like lugging it to the other side of the country.

I am tired now but man I have a HELL of a :D:D on my face. Tomorrow, I will open and see the 215 in its all mightyness.

wanna sell either of them? nice score, thats whatcha get for being a nice guy! what comes around, goes around my friend!

Well I finally got out there and had a chance to unwrap everything and take a god look at it all. That 215 is a thing of beauty, well to me it is. There are like 5 spools of.045 wire, an extra mig gun with the consumables and a lining for it, and an extra 220 plug. Some of the stuff had gotten wet at one time but everything seems to be in pretty good shape. Turns out none of this equipment has ever been used.

Here are a few more pics I snapped a little while ago.

You can see where it looks like some stuff had fallen on the plasma at one point in time. The dents aren't that bad and doesn't look like it messed anything up internally.

ya know, i always liked everyone on ck5... not anymore, i hate you man you suck and you should raffle those off to someone in florida zip 33936....

Come on don't hate. You see more than likely these things will end up at another CK5 members house that I frequent often. He will more than likely get more use of this stuff than me. Hell I am thinking of buying me a little 110/120 setup for the stuff I need to accomplish here around the house with the current state of the project.

It is killing me with these things still sitting in the back of my truck and not able to lay with them. I think I will get up and head to the local welding supply in the morning and buy me a bottle of argon and some consumables for the magnum gun and try an idea on wiring I was given.

I don't think my little compressor can handle that plasma. Now most of my shop equipment will be getting up graded to support everything, only bad thing is I don't have a shop yet.

the 215 was my last model of lincoln .. you will find it a good tool.. easy to use.. welds nice.. the tweako #1 gun is nice to hold...
I doubt you will use much 045.... youll find for ck5 fabbing 023 "easygrind wire" for bodywork and 030 for most tube stuff and 035 will do all your heavy plate.... 045 lays down too much wire for most automotive fab work.. I use it predominantly for outdoor ranch work (innershield) with my ln25
I think that is one of the first gen 215.. a very good piece and a super deal for your labors.. you'll probably never buy another weldor again unless you go to pro work
I think that 215 can take the spool gun as well.. but youll have to check.. mine was the laterst version and it had electronics for it.. not sure if yours even needs any...
the plasma cutter.... tell us what you find when you pull the bent cover.. it may be ok hammering it out... you may want to get another cover.. tell us what kind of torch it has on it...
Remember.. our machines have capaciters... they hold hi voltage... which can easily kill you.. so if you arent sure how to work on one and how to discharge the capaciter be VERY carefull not to touch them without knowledge

Enjoy.. nice score

WOW!!! that is very cool of your bud to give that to you. and YES that IS good karma.

my woman's best friends brother just gave his sister a 2004 AUDI TT Turbo about 2 months ago. one of those little 2 seaters. its super clean too. he bought a Range Rover and they ofcourse would not give him a fair price on a trade in for his AUDI. so he said F it and just bought the Rover but GAVE the AUDI to his sis.

Mike is his name and he is a good dood. very close with his family. so over Christmas he was heading to Big Bear and hit some casino and while playing slots hit a $4000.00 payout, then just a short while later he hit a $6000.00 payout. 10 grand, tell me that not Karma.

Dry air is the challenge....

My HyperTherm 600 won't cut worth a damn running off a small compressor (too much heat and water vapor, even with in-line driers). The real answer is to make sure that there's enough hard line (black pipe) in the air distribution system to help cool the air BEFORE it gets to the driers. That way it can condense and be pulled out effectively.

BTW -> Nice score! Karma for sure.... I'm a big believer in it. I've suffered bad karma and had some very GOOD karma too. The good kind feels a lot better.....

I bought harbor freights dryer when I had a 20 percent off coupon.. it was like 220 dollars discounted... and I am surprised.. it works and is even decent quality.. now I use it when painting or with the plasma.. my tip life has doubled

I have the same welder. LOVE the thing. I got to fire it up for the first time to make my bumper mounts the otherday. Its so much easier to use than my little 110 crappy setup I had. Congrats man! I feel a little... Well, Lot jealous.
