ok, my question is this, in the past i have seafoamed many a gas engine, running it through the pcv valve and letting it sit and then letting all the carbo go out the tail pipes, and added bout half bottle to oil and ran it for 100 to 200 miles to clean out the garbage in the motor. okkkkkkk now, has anyone who owns a diesel done this?? i have a 6.2 never messed with a deisel so i dont want to frig it up. opinions, comments, thoughts, facts. please let me know. thanks ahead of time.

hmmmmmm duhhhhh i did not know that, coool so then its ok to do what i want to do then. never read the can, just used it. dee dee dee on me. thanks brother.

I dont think seafoam is made for the tranny. I know they have a tranny flush but its not an additive.

You can run it in gas, oil, or through vacuum. I always do all 3.

sorry i typed that wrong. i have put lucas in my oil when changing it and lucas in my tranny, as an additive. can i put lucas in my oil after changing it and can i add lucas tranny product to my tranny is what i ment sorry for confusion.

matt

Theres no reason that you cant put lucas back in after you change the oil. Ask your self if you really need to though. Secondly you can put all the lucas tranny fix you want in a trans but its cumulative and also debatable how much if any is good for the trans.

hmm ok that is what i wanted to know. is there anything you recommend that i can/want/need to add to the oil, again, i do gas motors so want the lil tips and tech on diesels and im planning on using/keeping this burban for long time, just want to do whats best for longevity. i appreciate the knowledge, alot. im all ears open for being learned, lol.

matt

Best bet for longevity is just to run a little bit heavier oil. I'd run a 10w40 in the winter and 15w40 in the other seasons. I'm really no diesel expert, I do know I love diesels though!

Scratch that the BEST bet for longevity is to no rev the motor out. If you dont go over 3500rpms it'll go forever. Thats why cummins last so long.

i got 15w40 delo oil for it and hardly ever rev the motor at all. im looking now trying to hook up a tach to this motor, i just like having one. i dont dog it and it was used to drive and trailer a rock truck so. he never did either. im freakin loving this burban. thanks again.

Some of the bigger truck as in semi's run them off of the alt. I used to have a 6.2 and I found a kit that installed a lead on the out side of the alt kind of like when you time them. The kit came with the tach and all the wiring along with the special mount and sensor. Hope this helps Denny

any clue where you got the kit or who it was made by, itsnt a big thing, just a personal thing i like to do. but thanks ill start looking on my own also. take care

3 ways to kill a diesel, run non CF/CD/CH rated engine oil after a good seafoam douche topped off by Pukas snake products. Seroiusly mang do a search on Lucas products, there rated pretty poorly last I saw. Modern heavy duty diesel oils such as Delo or Rotella 15/40 need no additives, additives do not increase lubricity only longevity with nasty chemicals.Remember the scuttlebutt a few years ago over the "engine flush" machines? they`ed knock all kinds of carbon bits loose to flow thru the oil galleys and destroy bearings etc. Funny how the machines are a dime a dozen now. Somebody should be shot for that scam. Fuel addatives are another story after the removal of almost all sulphur from diesel. Theres my $.02.

ok first off what is cf/cd/ch mean is delo a good oil, if not ill tak it back, im very novice to diesels but not to motors in general. so no lucas got that. oil by itself is ok, and i used uhh a diesel only fuel additive which lubricats, cleans the motor. i added that cant think of name two diff bottles one grey the other white i got the grey one for cleaning it up. any other knowledge teach on teach on im all ears. thanks

can i buy specifically sulfer additive. i read they are selling ultra low sulpher diesel now. that i do know but thats bout it, gonna change oil and fuel filter guy i got burban from has the conversion to spin on filter so that is looking good too

YESSSSSSSSSS THATS WHAT I MEAN can i buy just that specifically. to add sulpher to my diesel or it is mixed in with different additives already?? looool :0)

K guys - gotta jump in here..sulfur additives don't exist - sulfur was removed from fuel for a reason, putting it back in would defeat the purpose, not to mention be illegal.

what you are after is a lubricity additive - which is just one of the many benefits of our fuel catalyst.. click on the link in my sig, and PM me if you think we have something..

We're not the cheapest, but the difference between us and power service is sorta like the difference between epoxy and library paste. PS is just kerosene with some solvent - you're not really lubricating anything with it.

We do some neat stuff with oil too..
