im about to drill and tap my 203 for a th400 adapter and i noticed ill have to seal a couple holes on the 203 from the original adapter. you guys think just a big clob of silicone will be good or should i maybe use a pipe plug and silicone?

or ill probly use some epoxy. ive used this stuff called marine tex on my jet ski to make new threads and fix cracks. really strong stuff. its almost like jb weld

Either that or some "right stuff" black or grey RTV. Let it set up and cut off the excess.

Yes but regular bolt thread instead of NPT. They come in various lengths so get something short so it's flush and not in too deep touching internal parts. It will also have a female Allen hole for tool to install.

I can problem find them at a hardware store huh? Also the idler gear shaft. Should I bolt a piece of flat stock over the part that's notched that the original adapter would cover?

They usually have an allen head inset into the top of the set screw. I used these when I drilled my 203 for the round pattern. I used "The Right Stuff" on the screws though, not thread sealant.

divorced 203 cases had a tab to line up and hold the shaft . so I made one when I did mine . and guys at ord said do/don't never seen much of a problem . fyi the pin is tiny bit different 1 end to other and will only go in /out 1 way . http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=253000

fyi read my thread for good info / tips . and almost everyone does the shifter detent mod I did now . makes the 203 range box shifter feel a lot better / matched to 205 feel.

Whoa, I don't know who here would tell you that tab isn't needed, it definitely is if you're drilling/tapping the face of the 203. We've actually come across a guy on the trail who's idler shaft fell out because he didn't cover it.

As you mentioned, the tab is factory on divorced 203's as well as married Ford 203's (where they had that same round bolt pattern factory).
