I ran across these:

http://www.jegs.com/i/Warmseats/936/WSH/10002/-1?parentProductId=755064

I'm currently looking to get the most comfort out of my ride. I'm going to be adding a bunch of insulation and nice carpet. But what about the seat? I was thinking of adding these seat warmers and replacing the factory bench foam that is deteriorating. Or should I go with seats from a newer SUV or something? If so please specify.

I like the seats from a 2001ish chevy truck big wide comfy. I think you have to get leather to get heated though.

But at the price even wrecking yards want, I will take a good condition bench seat every day. Seat heaters in said bench seat would be sweet

Pretty, cool, hadn't seen those. Not too expensive either. Wonder how you get them to stay in place?

Maybe it's just me, but even sitting in my truck for 4+ hours the factory seats don't suck anymore than a modern seat. Part of any problems people feel at this age is if the seat has been used quite a bit, the foam IS going to be bad, and a high quality foam replacement would probably solve it. My Dad re-upholstered his bench not that long ago and that one feels fine too.

MY 83 Jimmy has a bench deat from 2001 or so Chevy. Very comfortable. Now if I could only finish working on it I could enjoy the comfort :doah:

2000ish seats don't fit in the truck cabs very nicely. I've seen some pics here of people that have made them work but they sit high, way too high. Even after making custom mounts.

I'm a sucker for a clean stock interior. I voted to rehab the factory bench and add heaters to that. Check with Don's custom upholstery down by the Plymouth airport. My dad had his seat repaired there and they did a fantastic job. The workmanship and materials and overall results would be far superior to buying replacement covers and padding from LMC or whatever. Plus you could switch it up and get it made in leather. Heated leather bench seat.... awesome.

Isn't that what you have in your truck? 2000ish Silverado seats?

Also I looked up replacement foam and seat cover for my bench and its going to run about $500 total. Would Don's be able to do it cheaper?

Yes, I do. But it's a K5 with the flat floor, not the truck cab. And they fit awesome. And I also wanted cheap and effective cause my original seats were worn out, beat up, and moldy. Your truck wants better than cheap and effective. :D

I doubt Don's would be cheaper, comparable at best. Since when did you start cheaping out on your truck? Didn't you learn from your cylinder head experience? Cheap, mass produced replacements will be NO COMPARISON to what a quality local shop can make you. Plus they can make or change things to your specs. You want a different color, different inlay, different piping, different pattern, different material? They can do it, and probably for a marginal cost increase especially if they have the materials in stock or are sitting on some unused materials. I bet they could even custom carve some new padding with a bit of bolstering action. That would be sick.

Why did gm use the intergated seat and seatbelt on the 99 to mid 2000s?

Why not? They are integrated for belt position vs seat position. That way the seat can be in wherever position and the seat belt is properly placed on the person. Probably made it easier during the vehicle build process too.

Well my wallet has been feeling a bit light lately with all this money I'm dumping into this thing :doah:

But true, I'm not looking to cheap out but I also don't want to spend more than I have to.

Good point with the flat K5 floor. I should be looking for sports car seats that sit lower to compensate for the raised floor. The seats in my camaro would be perfect, or maybe a pair of vette seats...
You see I'd like to get some bolstering in the seat, a little more lumbar support, and the functionality of a center console would be the tits.
Leather seats out of an '07+ would be prefect but again they might be too high for a truck cab.

After the holidays I'll have some time to paruse the parts yards around here and take some measurements.

Do the K5 consoles have cup holders?

I looked at a set of those seats in my buddies truck took several measurements.

I think I could make em work but I would have to find a completely different set of sliders for the seat and possibly modify the floor.

But then again I have a very long torso, when I sit next to my little bro ( 6'7") I am taller than him.

Have you looked at aftermarket seats to put in there.

There are quite a few http://http://www.discountvantruck.com/truck40-20-40lowbackseats/threesectionlowbacktruckseats.htm

Looks like there are tons of power, massage, heat etc options

Your link didn't work but I followed from the home page and wow! I have found my seats!

This is exactly what I'm looking for: classic stitching lines, bucket seats, lumbar, center console, heating option, matches my maroon interior, bolts in with available adapter plates, and to top it off MADE IN THE USA :usaflag: :waytogo:

Those look like a good choice. How do they mount to the floor? That's something to consider

Scroll down on the website, they have adapter brackets to BOLT in to any 73-87 pickup cab. That's about as easy as it gets :deal:

I am going to use a set out of a late 90s doge with the split fron seàts. The console flips up to be used as a center seat. Not sure what else has those kind of seats but I like the versatility. Aftermarket spring seats are nice too but pricy. Racing seats would be nice for wheeling with the extra padding to keep you centered and most are already set up for harnesses as well.
