i've asked this question before , have'nt really had time to play on yhe internet lately. anyways I asked about putting seats out of a 2003 siverado ss in my 83 k5 . I imagine I'm going to have to make brackets to adapt the newer seats to my existing bolt hole locations. Also the 2003 seats are power , anyone know how to wire them uo to my k5 so that they are functional? Any help and or pics of the brackets and wiring diagrams would be really helpful , thanks guys

Do a search there's a few threads lately on this topic. I am also bolting in the newer 00' + seats in my k5 and looks like you just use the front outside factory bolt hole and drill the rest from there. Also since the newer seats have the seat-belt built into them its a good idea to beef up the mounting locations with either bracing or sandwiching the floor with some mounting plates so the seat can't pull through in an accident. For powering them just supply them with 12v from a keyed source under the dash.

so as far as the keyed source for powering the seats , that would allow all of the seat functions to operate? they also have the seat heaters in them , dont really care for that function. but how are the newer seats wired ? run a hot wire to a keyed source and a ground wire and thats it ? or is there more to it than that?

You're power seats can be wired direct to battery power but you should run it through a circuit breaker first. They are wired this way from the factory and use a pretty good size wire.

The seats you have should also be wired for memory function as well as seat heaters. You may have to eliminate the control module under the seat, but I'm not sure. Maybe you can just hook up the power/ground to the 2 big wires? I would be doing some function testing before committing to buying these seats.

I already have the seats as well as the rest of the 2003 Silverado SS truck. It was my sons vehicle and he fell asleep and totalled it , so I am trying to figure out what I can use on my 83 K5.

Are you able to power up the electrical system? This will enable you to do some testing. And you can unplug the different plugs under the seat to see what is what, and what doesn't work when unplugged. Having the whole truck available is the best thing for you.

yes , the whole truck is at my fathers house , still runs and all , the body and frame are just shot! whole interior , tailgate and one front and rear door are still good. I was contemplating trying to put the center console in the k5 too , dont know how much fabrication would take though.
