SES always on - no codes other then 12

Your correct Royken, I have stock manifold. Sorry for the confusion. Never made the distinction between headers and manifold. Learned now!

put a paperclip in A and B slots of ALDL port while waiting and idling. This puts ECM in ALDL mode and raises idle to 1000 and increses timing. This will keep the engine running clean as well as O2 sensor and CAT hot. Works like a charm. Pull it out before they see you....

Nice to Know Eagle Mark... I will do that, I have been checking for codes that way a lot and have paper clip on hand...

Just to confirm... this is the adapter I used:

I took it off now because I would not want a leak. Easy enough to put on since it does NOT go anywhere near the TB. It will only fit between the fuel filter and the hose going up to the TB.

Service is much better with the reorg of NJ Motor Vehicle Dept change to New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (NJMVC). Inspection line takes about hour max if you go in the middle of the month.

I think I found replacement cap with sliders that are not cracked like mine are on craigs list. Just waiting for a reply. If that is a go I will take in on the 4 hour drive to pick it up and only go to inspection after that. Hope it is soon cause it is getting cold. Don't like the idea of driving 2 hours at highway speeds without a cap at 50 degrees. :) ...

Just for anyone following this thread! That adapter should NEVER be used as a permanent installation!

And not because of the schrader valve, because of the way it rotates on O rings. It is a temporary fuel pressure gauge fitting! A good one because of the way it will rotate 360. If you are running and turn it? It does drip fuel!

if you get desperate for decent sliders, I could hook you up with some... joysey shore... they are installed in my hardtop out in the yard, i'd have to pull em... I have solids in my attic that I'll eventually put in that top.... I don't like sliders...

i'd give ya the top too, cuz I run a softtop that I don't plan to take off... but i'd like to keep the top for a down the road emergency kinda deal..

dude, you don't have to yell..... ;) :haha:

:waytogo:

Man I'd just hate to see someone read half a thread or misunderstand and have a fuel leak that burns their truck down!

yeah, I didn't know you where talking about the other fastening aspect of that adapter.... the one I install on the boat tbi's for testing, isn't like that, it's fixed once you tighten each end..

carry on boys...

Thanks for the offer Royken. I have a couple of leads off of craigslist that are viable. One is a whole cap that looks in much better shape than mine, with good sliders all for $50.00 bucks. I like the sliders because I can open them rather then that goldfish in a bowl look of the one piece glass.

If that cap on craigslist fails I may ask to take you up on that offer, really just to meet you and buy you a beer or 2 for all the great advise and knowledge you have shared with me and many others.

dYeager and Eagle I would like send a lot of thanks to you guys as well. You both live too far away to thank in person. You all have been very patient with me and my problems. While I am sure to have more questions, I am learning.

Who says an old dog can't learn new tricks. :doah:

BTW, Royken, how does that soft top hold up with Jersey Ice and Snow? It would seem to me that the ice would harden it, then the weight would pull it down in the middle of the top and pull up the side causing it to leak wind where it meets the body. I would think the ice would make it easy to tear as well ?

Just curious, not planning on getting one till we move to Vegas, Damn, all kinds of things holding that up.

don't know, the softtop hasn't seen a winter outside yet... it isn't being built to be driven much in the winter.. tho once I finish it, it will have to be stored outside at that point under a cover cuz it wont fit in the garage...
