Quick question. How far offset is the DIY4X shackle flip? I gotta setup front brackets and wont have the flip till wednesday:rolleyes:

I checked mine it's installed in the factor location with the offset closest to rear. It is offset 3/4" from the center of the bracket. The face of the bracket is 7.5", the measurment from bushing center to rear of bracket is 3" and from bushing center to front of bracket is 4.5

Cool. That's exactly what I needed to know. If the brackets wind up in the wrong place, I'm blaming you:eek1::doah::haha::haha:

need me to take any pics with tape measure for you its no biggie?

Thats fine, I trust you. Those make sense compared to an ord flip. The front to back offsets exactly what I needed. :D

I bought mine a couple months ago. They measure 1" offset from center.

I also called Kurt and asked him before I ordered them and that's what he told me too.

Question only because I built my own flip and now I'm wondering if mine are all wrong. They are not installed yet.

Is the offset you speak of to switch from side to side for 52's or 56's? basically you would have the 1" offset pointing forward for the 52's and the 1" offset pointing backwards for the 56's, right? Now that would only be 2" difference total, right? With the 56's being 4" longer why wouldn't there be a 4" difference instead of only 2"??? Or, am I thinking of a different measurement than what you guys are refering to?

I ask because when I made my flip I moved the center of the bushing (where the spring bolt would go) about 3.5"- 3.75" back from where the stock hanger/bushing/bolt would go to accomodate the 56's I'll be putting on. Did I screw this up already on my fabbing?:(

I measured from the center of the hanger to the center of the bushing and it was 3/4 inch using my tape (or 1" using owenst7's tape). Ha ha

You're correct in your thinking. You'll be fine, but the people doing it the other way will have a better shackle angle.

I used a dial caliper :P

He may have changed up his measurements, or misspoke when he told me on the phone, and then just made them to the specs he told me. Who knows.

Big Blzn:
You're fine. You'll just have a close-to-stock shackle angle. You might notice a very slight sacrifice in suspension droop, but you will gain a small amount of ride height. What year is your frame? Sounds like the hangers you made might be perfect for a set of 64"s if you have the older frame like my '76.

EDIT: If it's a '72, I have no idea. Never looked at one closely. If it's fairly simple to move your front hanger forward 4-6", swapping 64"s is pretty easy. Mine have a ridiculous amount of droop.

The bushing is set 1" forward in our flip.

Well, that's good news. Sounds like it should be OK. I have not drilled any of the mounting holes for the bolts yet so I still have some adjustment if needed. Thanks guys.
