Ive been doing research on both and i dont really know with one would be cheaper and have the best results. I just started college some im on a budget. If possible could i see some pictures.

It depends a lot on my much lift you are going for and what you are doing with the front. You also have to think about whether you are going to be towing or wheeling.

I have a 4" all spring pro-comp lift. Wish I would've done a shackle flip instead for a couple reasons. First, it's cheaper because you don't have to buy springs for the rear at $150/ea - just the one roughly $150 flip kit. Second, the more arched the spring - the less flex = harder ride/less performance offroad. With a flip, you retain the more flat stock springs and they'll flex real well.

I want around 4-5" of lift and i wont be towing anything. I got 4" springs for the front

Shackle flip from ORD works GREAT!!!!! I have used it on 2 rigs 87 Blaze and 88 CC can't complain. I had to shim pinion angle down to match T-case angle on both.

I just installed a DIY4X Flip and Switch. Good quality stuff.

I have pretty much the same question, springs or shackle flip?

Mine is my '89 in my sig. I have front 4" springs with rear blocks. I tow and haul (enough firewood where she squats) in my burb.

I would worry more about the shackle angle...:eek1:

I hope that's not sitting on it's own weight...

As far as the original post... I would go with a shackle flip...

You can use one of the kits or do your own...

You'll get 4-6 inches of lift depending on the bracket and if you use aftermarket shackles or build your own...

Still a new guy so a new guy question the rear of the shackle should angle towards the rear correct? At what angle? Which direction should the front shackles for the rear springs be going? Do the same rules apply for the front of the truck?

about 45* for the shackle so you can maximize both compression and extension rotation. the front of the spring doesn't have a shackle.

the idea is the same for the front suspension, but unless you replace your front shackle with longer ones and relocate the front spring perch your shackle angle isn't really going to matter because the front suspension shackle will basically be riding on the frame anyway. the stocker is REALLY short.

Is that why the DYI b-52 kit looks like it sets up the springs to bolt to the frame?
Sorry for the hijack, I am just trying to learn

Correct. On both axles the spring attaches directly to the spring hanger on the frame in front and via a shackle in back.

The B52 replaces the front spring hanger.

I may as well pic whore my DIY4X flip as well. :D
