shackle flip riding rough

I am no expert but a buddy of mine lifted a 83 k20 truck with 6" springs in the rear (skyjacker I think) and the ride was horrible, it was almost painfull when you would hit a bump. He put about 350 pounds of sack-crete in the bed directly over the axle and left if it in there for a long time. But it helped and it broke the springs in quicker. I don't know if that is an option since you have a k5.

I dont think a 3" TC spring alone will make the ride that much worst, im thinking its his shackle angle.

But the shackle angle between stock and a shackle flip shouldn't make that much difference either.

- New lift springs will likely be stiffer than the worn out stockers

- aftermarket shocks will likely be stiffter than the worn out stockers

- if you used poly bushings in place of the worn out stockers they will be stiffer

- if you tightened up the spring bolts too much it will cause it to ride stiffer

- What about tires? I'm guessing if you lifted the truck 7" you also put on different tires? Bigger more aggressive tires could cause it to ride stiffer.

You also have to keep in mind that somebody's perception of it being a "huge difference" would be "hardly noticable" by somebody else.

I have the same tires in the rear. I lifted 7" to get rid of a 6" block and get the back to sit properly. The shocks and springs that were on it were pretty bad, like 230,000 miles. I'm probably just going to check the bolts again and drive it.

X2
And the air pressure you're running makes a huge difference...............:wink1:
