I just replace 6 inch blocks on the rear of my K5 with a DIY4X shackle flip, tuff country 3 inch springs, tuff country shocks and a 14 bolt. The ride in the back went from bouncy to very stiff. I thought it would ride better than before. Any thoughts on this? I am considering taking off the shocks to see if they are too stiff.

You must be doing something wrong becuase they ride great. Why do you need 7 inches of rear lift anyways?

I think as far as the "why he needs 7" of lift" goes.. I think if he wants to comfortably fit more than 35" tires with out rubbing is fine.. I think he can put what ever lift he wants right?

If you say so. I just don't like the draw backs of thehieght like tipping andsuch. And the ride sucks with lift springs. I'm sure the TC's ridefine though. But I bet your trucks feels like it's solid. Plus I just don't like the way it looks. Having tires that can't find in the wheel wells lookds dumb to me. And I don't rock crawl. I do mostly mud. Plus they roll over all the time

Heres an example of what is down herer

You have absolutely no clue what you are talking about. first off your post is mostly gibberish. second, people can do whatever they want to their trucks. my truck has around 9 inches of rear lift. I have never rolled it over and I run it hard in the rocks.

If you have nothing positive to add to someones thread stay the hell out of it. the original poster did not ask you what you thought about lift springs and the way trucks look.

LA90K5, look into getting some greasable bushings for the springs and shackles. make sure you do not over torque all the mounting bolts. your lift springs most likely have a higher spring rate then the originals, that will make it stiffer.

it make take some time for the springs to soften up a little.

Well the stock rear springs are about the softest thing you can find, without going to coils or longer leafs. Even a "soft" lift spring will be stiffer than the stockers. A heavier rear end also degrades ride quality (more unsprung mass), but most report not noticing the difference.

Check to make sure nothing is binding. Any chance the slip yoke is binding because it is pulled out further now? That would be a bad situation. Are you using rubber bushings or poly? Are the bushings moving?

Did you change the shocks when you did the flip? you mentioned checking them. If not, as long as they haven't seized up it shouldn't have changed. Shackle angle should be a hair toward the rear of the vehicle. 90* will give you the most lift, but a bit back will give you the best compromise between lift, droop, and ride quality. I haven't personally run the Tuff country's but I have heard people complain about the ride quality on them, even the "soft ride" springs. Also as mentioned above, if you overtorque you're spring bolts it can make the ride harsher. I did the handmade route with my shackle flip and 4 inch lift superlift springs. The ride was a bit stiff till I put my rear winch in, that settled in down quite a bit.

I torqued the spring hanger to 120 ft lbs and the shackle bolts to 45 foot lbs. I changed the shocks with the flip. As for as the slip yoke binding, I don't know. That could be a possibility because there isn't much driveshaft left in the t-case. I am planning on a sye and cv driveshaft pretty soon.

Also new rear springs will ride rougher then worn out stockers until they break in. also loosen up the bolts and try it again. they should be lock nuts and should be able to just spin the bolt with two wrenches.

I'm going to bet its the springs also. Go wheel'm hard and break them in. It will ride better.

got rid of flat springs for lift springs? That is your stiffness culprit. Let them soften up a little and the ride will get better, but lift springs will never ride as smooth as the stock style.

I dont think a 3" TC spring alone will make the ride that much worst, im thinking its his shackle angle.

what are the chances you need to swap the brackets side to side to get a better shackle angle? we need pics. that and loosen the shackle bolts a little.
