Didn't mean to put down Kert... just saying what the first impression is like. So with that in the rear do you run the 6" springs in the front and it's good and level?

havent bought from kert yet but have talked to him a few times via phone and here...give the two a call and see which has better phone service that might answer some of those questions...and as to cost i think kerts shackles are beefier just by design. but both companies are good and i have no clue why ORD has to be so expensive.
Everything I have bought from Kert has been plenty beefy. The "right" angle has to do with the shackle and its angle related to the frame, two much or too little limits flex and messes with the ride
I think it is because ORD gets a lot more press with all the Ultimate Adventure stuff and they always have adds in the backs of magazines, making their product more well known so they can charge more.
I agree call Kert he can answer all your questions and give you advice on what will work best for you

I think you may be looking at the wrong 6" shackle on Kert's site.

The one you want is at the top of the page and not $40. Either place has good quality and service. Prices tend to better with Kert. I'm thinking 4" shackle flip, 6" shackle and figure out your DS angle and get a degreed zero rate. They can be had at JKW off-road. Maybe Kert makes those too but I think I actually called him and asked him about it one time and he referred me to JKW. Getting rid of those blocks is a good idea.

What are the $40 6" shackles for then?
I thought I'd heard that the flip will pretty much set your pinion angle up pretty good on it's own?
I understand what shackle angle refers to, but anyone got a pic of what it should look like? Like, the actual angle I should be shooting for.

Ok, maybe not... I'm cornfused. Its says in the description "these are sold in sets, or enough to hook up both rear springs" 
So whats the difference in the $80 UDSR ones towards the top of the page and the $40 cross tied ones towards the bottom?

I'm just talking to myself now, lol. Must mean the rear of the front springs... ok so back to the other questions:

ok............now i'm feeling really stupid. I think i finally got this figured out.........
. The cross tied shackles are used with the yellow "flip & switch" mounts, and the UDSR shackles are used with the "first gen. shackle flip and switch".

Shackle angle is kind of application specific. Generally a 45 degree angle (w/ the weight on, not on jackstands) works pretty well. You want measure your spring and shackle length together and make sure the shackle hanger will have the correct arc/flex on compression and extension. A forum search /\ would yield more info on that.
The shackle flip is great idea if you are going to switch to CV style driveshaft at some point. For the stocker DS though it needs some serious correction. The rear of my CUCV needed a 10d shim but use an angle finder to determine yours. The angle of the DS coming out of transfer case should be parallel with the angle at the axle end. Clear as mud?

ok............now i'm feeling really stupid. I think i finally got this figured out.........
Close the udsr are for a ord style flip or to replace stock shackles. The diy flips use a diffrent type of shackles thats what the switch means switching to the shackle side style like the cross tied ones or simple shackle sides.

ooooooooh, ok. First Gen ('69-'72) Clear on it now... so if i use either of the DIY4X flips then i can use the cheaper shackles that are more customizeable (is that a word?) Difference is having the bushing in the mount on the DIY4X, and having the bushing in the shackle on ORDs. Dang, i'm stupid

You need a rigid type of shackle w/ bushings for the rear springs. Especially with a shackle flip. It helps to stabilize the rig.
You've got me wondering about DIY4X shackle flip. Is it reversible like ORDs to change to a 56" spring later? You could always drill out a new mounting location for it but I'm still curious.

well both brands have a bushing... but one has the bushing in the mount side, and one has the bushing in the shackle side.
Shackle flip itself nets you a 4" lift.
Bushing in the flip bracket is offset to facilitate mounting of longer springs when changed "side for side" 52" vs. 56" length springs.
We put the bushing in the shackle so you can use regular shackle sides and make them yourself if you like. Or we can do them for you for cheap compared to a shackle that has a bushing in it. There is also a cross tied shackle for use with our shackle flip n switch. Stronger yet! Our shackle flip is available in package deals for different shackle lengths and cross tied. Call us for the cross tied package.

good to meet ya. I'm deployed right now, and just trying to figure out what all I'll be doing to the K5 when i get home in a couple months.. so I'll have to call then and find out about the flip & switch packaged with the 6" crosstied shackles.. I'm pretty sure right now that that's what I'll be doing.. along with a zero rate aal.
