What happens when you go through the shift pattern?

When you push it to 4lo does it pull both of the rods out of the tcase? Basically what is the position of the rods when you go throught the shift pattern?

Neutral a little futher
2 high out 3/4 of the way
4 high out until they stop

When you pull the lever it clicks in each position.
