Shipping a suburban

I've got a boat load of stuff, as far as parts. Which I've got a friend back home that would do all the work but I really want to do it myself. Did they use a 18wheeler to bring it over or flatbed or something?

Has anyone used a transport company recently to ship their truck? I'm looking into buying one from a member that lives in Colorado. I've been thinking about flying out and driving it back to Ohio but, if I can get it shipped for a little bit more I might just go that route. There are so many companies out there and I have received qoutes anywhere from $800 to $1500.

Can anyone here recommend any transport company that they have dealt with?

Interesting...I used Momentum Transport and they did a good job...now they have been removed from the BBB (Better Business Bureau) and it looks like their website is gone. Most of these place are just "brokers"...they don't actually own any trucks...they just act as the agent between you and the trucker.

I found that they were all around the same price, as you said...average $1200 for cross country. One of the things to look for is to make sure they have insurance, or if not, you need to purchase insurance...otherwise if the truck wrecks, or yours is stolen or ends up in Mexico you will have no recourse. Check with the BBB or Angie's List.

When I was looking I found an independent driver that transported in a covered trailer...I don't remember his name...but he transports show cars as well...

would it be cheaper for me to drive my truck back from NC to CA or to get it shipped? It gets really crappy gas mileage lol

Price of fuel...very, very, very long ride...possibility of breaking down....lost work time...for me it wasn't an option...it would have cost me much more to fly out and drive it back. Airline tickets are at an all time high right now too...believe me...I agonized over it.
