Shock tabs

I upgraded to 1ton axles. I stole the 10b front tabs and got a new set of rear tabs. Is there any way I can put them exactly where they need to be and be equal on both sides? Thank you!

On my 1/2 to 1 ton swap I was able to keep the tabs on the Dana60 and the 14bolt/ff.

The 14bolt/ff allowed the shocks to bolt right in (factory staggered and not even though).

The Dana60 kept the original tabs welded in place, but I had to get the upper shock mounts replaced (and relocated by preference to a more upright angle). The upper shock mounts were welded to the frame just low enough to clear the steering shaft which pre-loaded my Bilstien 5125's with about 2" of compression when the axle is at full droop on a vehicle lift.

If I understand the advice I've been given on suspension, you want to have a bit of preload on your shocks while the axle is hanging level at full droop because when driving and one side of the axle is fully compressed the other side will extend downward passing the point of full droop from a level plane. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong here?

The Dana 60 has all the same shock mount locations add the 10 bolt. Nothing to change there.

For the 14FF, buy aftermarket (diy4x or gravelmaker) and weld them on yourself if you know how.

the axles i bought had ALOT of extra metal where the springs mounted cause they were under a mud truck. When i cleaned them up i cut everything off. What i need to know is where to mount the tabs i have to make the shocks work right and not bind up or hit anything. Let me know!

Like Kenny said, the front shock tabs go in the same location as they did on the 10bolt.

The rear, you can just buy tabs like the ones I listed and weld them wherever you want, as long as they are in-line with the upper mount. On top of the axle, below the axle, 90deg to the axle (3 or 9 o'clock position)...doesn't matter. Shock will perform the same in any of these configurations.

A couple of things to be aware of though - with short shock tabs, like the ones I posted, you can't really mount it below the axle because the body of the shock will hit the axle. Factory used longer offset tabs to mount the shocks low. That brings up the other thing. I mounted mine along the axle centerline (3 &9 o'clock). You have to remember that this is about 3-4" higher than the original lower shock mount. You have to account for that in shock length or you will bottom them out under compression.
