Shop build. HEAT!

My last plant I worked in had all screwpipe air line. And a half dozen monsterous air compressors with massive drying and filtering skids......

Crappy air gave us constant problems.... Not sure why or how. :dunno:

This plant is all copper. 2 big compressors and just the built in drying/filtering. Perfect air all the time.

I'm not sure of the reason.... And size of the system my be part of it.... But it sold me on copper. Plus copper is WAY simpler to me lol. I hate threading pipe. May be from doing it too much. But I still hate it so Im probably biased:thinking: .
 
Since I have lots of time to think and today is not my best day as far as my head is concerned, I did something way different than I have seen before.

The studs over here are over 12 feet. Plus the outside walls move a bit in a strong wind.

So this is how I blocked the studs and the girts up. The foam in between the girt and block serve 2 purposes one it thermally decouples the stud from the girt and two it kind of allows me to have a variable distance. I am trying to get all the studs straight with no bowing.

Is this the right way? I don't know. Is there easier ways? Probably. But it accomplished all my goals and I don't have to bend down at all. So it's a win for me
 
That works yeah.... Good thinking.

Possible time saver is instead of cutting each one so short to fit, maybe do them a little longer and screw into the side of the stud..? Same outcome but possibly faster :dunno:

I'm not moving so fast today lol.

Since I'm not in a huge rush to get this done, this works for now. I won't have help to do the other 3 stud walls till late tomorrow. Also it prevents a bit of insulation squishing like this.
 
interesting. I like it. I've never really dealt with pole barn construction before so it's interesting to see what issues you run into, and how to solve them.

In reality it's not bad. I don't think this place was ever meant to be finished. With that in mind there are certainly things that could have been done to make it easier to finish. There are also other things I would have done differently.

Overall I might have a bit of a wavy wall and a bit of a undulation in the ceiling. Perfectly acceptable in a shop.

But overall it is only adding strength to the building and the wall.
 
On Saturday I helped a guy do unit bearings and u joints on his Dodge. He said he would come help me in Monday ( today) and by dang he did!!!!

Finished out the major framing. Still have some blocking to get done. But this is super exciting, huge milestone in my bookIMG_20180507_140921600.jpg

He left to do more work. I keeled over and died lol.

Oh also admired his 86 stepside 2 wheel drive truck and talked of future car projects. Pretty sure his engine swap will be the first in this shop

Been out here the whole day trying to get something else done.

I cut some boards, stared at the ceiling, contemplated my bench, contemplated future things. Got like 2 other things done.
 
Lol.... just poking some fun at ya. I love that you’re pushing forward and finally seeing some light of having your shop again. Been along trip from the old shack, putting it up for sale, it not selling, double payments, work on the new house,.... blah, blah.... to finally having your space again. Huge Brother... Huge!
 
Yah man! You know it!!!!!!

Been a solid trek, though I still feel very lucky to have it. So many of you guys build such awesome stuff in very small garages.

Hence one of the reasons I like to help other guys out. Whatever term you like, lucky, blessed,fortunate whatever. I'll gladly share. To a point of course. It's still MY shop lol

Great attitude to have. Sometimes I am jealous of the huge shops 30x60 pluses. But then think I’m super lucky to have what I have. I have a shop, I park my nice new vehicles inside the house garage.

Yep. I have a 2 car garage and a shed. So plenty of room for stuff
