The parking brake clip can be made from a piece of ~1/8" flat stock, 1" or 1.5" wide, with a grinder and a drill. Ask me how I know :D

Do you mean what vehicles have Yorks? Volvos. Lots of them. Any compressor that's not round, is a York, the big ones.

9 trees cut down... all from a 90' boom bucket truck and 1 decided to hit the house.. take out 6 sections of siding... but siding is fixed now... also fixed the gutter...

installed 400 square foot hardwood floor 3/4 tongue pre finished with my new bostitch miiifs nailgun

trim, chair rail, crown moulding installed
garage cleaned
shed cleaned and cabinet and counter installed
horseshoe pit fixed and already used it...

just so many projects..

this week, i studied all week... for a certification test.. Altiris Deployment server 6.8.. .passed... so next week is altiris notification server....

then finally.. gonna take a week after work every night and work on the truck..

need to fix power steering leak
oil leak
d60 front pinion leak
transmission leak
np205 leak
rear break line leak

SOOOO MANY LEAKS!!!! that is why my truck doesnt rust.. .HAH..
finish installing my body lift... got the bed up on 1.5" and need to do the cab and front clip. Also tons of wiring needs to be done..

also going to sand the truck of all the rust spots.. and prep for paint hopefully by next month.....

so I figured if im at the junkyard and can find a cheap york... I will get it..

so ok most volvos.. the big ones... round, not square...
if I clean it up... what should the tag say?
also what else do I need? grab the comressor, lines, brackets, etc....

thanks..
Jeff

What I've heard is you want the square ones. People like to use them for air compressors because the oil is in a seperate crank case and not mixed with the refrigerant. I had one kicking around years ago and the tag said York.

well this guy said one was in his jeep grand cherokee

check this layout out...

Good info.
That sounds right. The one I had came off an AMC 401 motor that a buddy was going to put in his CJ5. I believe it was pulled from a Wagoneer. I tossed it a few years ago when I moved. It looked just like the ones they put on Volvos.

I meant the big square compressors, not the big square Volvos =))

Anyway, the Volvos with Yorks are all the 210, the big output one. Find a Volvo with the York, it's the right kind.

Don't bother with the brackets. The fittings, maybe. I just bought new ones, that adapt from the weird York AC size to regular pipe thread, from Kilby. Lordie they've gotten pricey ... Their #44760 is now $45 a pair?? (See http://www.kilbyenterprises.com/compressors.htm ) Yeah, get the fittings!

HTH. I've done this, put a junkyard York onto my 350... harder if you have AC and/or serpertine, but it's doable.

Serp, or V-belt?

if V-belt, get the bracket from Muddytazz. Then run a V-belt where the AC one would have gone and ...

That's my home-brew bracket, modeled after pix Muddytazz posted before I found out he sells them.

and then, voila:

There's tons of info on this subject. Just google "york compressor install" and you'll get more than you need.
Important things to consider are things like the internal oil modification see:
http://www.jedi.com/obiwan/jeep/yorkair.html

I actually went so far as to buying all the parts (pressure switch water seperator regulator...etc). I fabed brackets and even mounted the compressor in my truck. I then did an engine swap and never got around to making new brackets.

yeah I did search and here is tons of info.. however to believe an article from 2002 vs someone posting newer ideas today can be better to me...

makes me wonder if a 12vdc air compressor could do just find but on a cheaper budget....

but to say I have oba off of my engine is cool....:wink1:

Three batteries under the hood, the pair for the winch are isolated from the starter battery.

PM MT, he's a good guy. OTOH, note I built mine ... but it does take some doing. I can send you pix of mine if you go the self-build route.

And as for your other post ... an electric compressor that can put out as much as a York would be several hundred bucks -- plus you still gotta plumb it, get a tank, etc. Yorks really are cheap and work really well, really.

-- A

Oh, and good eye on the measuring tape ... I think I was still plumbing the OBA stuff, as I've got an ARB up front as well as a quick-disco under the hood for tools, etc etc, and it got complicated ;)

well I have dual 1000ca duralast golds under the hood in parallel for the truck...

then in the bed is dual 1300ca dump truck batteries.. they are HUGE.... size of 4 batteries... they run my winch.... 15,000lb ramsey patriot...

dual-batts.jpg

they are fully wired in now.. this is an old pic...
dualbatts2.jpg

p.s. my mount is made of a old stop sign.... and all tread... :haha:

well back from 4 yards.....

first one.. Shorties on 168
$2 to walk around...
found my ebrake bracket within minutes and no tools to take off... :wink1:
big alternator bolt and bracket too.....
for a buck..
had to show in your tool box so they knew you werent steeling anything
$3 out of that junkyard..

looked at 15 volvos and no yorks.. at lease they didnt look like the yorks..

next junkyard was (dirkes)
$1 to get in
sign says make sure you have NO parts on you
as you have to go through a metal detector upon exit
also they have to hit a button to let you out of the gate...
and didnt find any volvos

next was off of piney hollow road
$1 to walk around.. didnt find anything...
went to opposite side of yard and looked around..

TONS OF OLD CARS!!!!
dodge chargers
chevelles
mustang mach 1
camaros

so when we went to walk out the lady walked up to us and said it is $3 to walk on that side.. I laughed and said.. there is no sign and left...

across the street is AA auto parts.. I think that is its name
waaaay over priced and didnt have what I needed...
I heard people complaining about prices...
they also have highback leather harley davidson bucket seats with the center console for sale.. didnt ask how much as I knew it would be alot...

so all in all... 3 junkyards - 1 no walk yard....
$4 and got ebrake clip, long alt bolt, alt bracket and bolt for bracket to alt

I got my yorks out of a '77 furd P/U & two big tour buses. All of them turned out to be 210's.
