Shot myself in the foot.

thats the high dollar lift kit.....

you could get a good suspension system from Tough Country (NOT rough country) and tires and wheels for 2500 and have a lifted truck that will work great

or you could do this:

6"liftlink

Its true. I dig my springs. But im going to set it all up to run the dunes real fast... If the tuff country springs are better than stock (which ive heard they are) I cant imagine my ord ones are that much better as far as road driving or occasional wheeling.... They are nice and from what ive seen can work much better in certain situations... but if you have a budget..... :dunno:

Dang dude! I built my own lift (no blocks), Dana 60, 14 bolt, transfer case and everything for less than $1k, the biggest part of my budget was all the new U-bolts, grade 8 bolts, paint, and small stuff.

Of course I'm not the type who has to be the guy who bought the most name brand parts, I'd rather have one of a kind stuff built by me.

I found all of my major parts on Craigslist, and eBay.

same here. i have less than 2500 into my lift and that includes springs, shackle flip, new axles, tires, wheels and driveshafts.

It can be done, but you cant be getting all the custom stuff, it depends how you want to do it :thumb:

Edit: the more i think about it, i have less than 2k into all that...

Some folk are stuck on the idea that for some reason their parts all need to have some high dollar status symbol parts with fancy laser cut logos, or it's just not good enough. I just wish they had bought Jeeps like they should have done in the first place.

Damn I shoulda bought a jeep. Didn't know it was uncool to support companies you like

the more i get into this car hobby, the easier it is to get in too deep. I like working on cars, but driving them is the most fun for me. So yea its nice to have all these great parts, but the money and time you put into them make it harder and harder to just drive and enjoy the car.

This forum is pretty good about this, everyone here builds their rigs and drives them, but some forums people are just dumping stupid money into a car and then they are too scared to drive it. I always tell myself that I want my car to be rough around the edges so im not afraid to actually drive it.

anyway...

congrats on 2nd year... im at 20 this year...

I got a $7k bonus and $6k tax return.. guess what were doing...
paying bills and a nice vacation..

surprisingly a new dslr is not in that budget im told :doah:

$2500 is about the baseline for a bolt-on supercool front lift kit:

If you go lean, you can save enough for a stupid $80 rear block kit until next anniversary, where you'll do a rear coilover conversion.

I get what your saying. If I wasn't in outside sales driving a company truck 2000 miles a week (275,000 miles on a 2009 f-150) I would daily driver the Blazer. The minute I get home from work and on the weekends I park my company truck and get in the blazer.
