Should a fuel pump kill switch be interrupted on the positive of negative?

Depends on the system. A lot of factory PCM units are ground switched to reduce voltage spiking

But that's just to switch the relay, the relay breaks the positive lead.

A pump can't run without the power lead. It can ground out and continue to run with the ground lead open.

Also, most of the ECMs still provide the voltage to the relay for control as well so a key-off takes away the 12V bus AND the negative that closes the relay. Redundancy.

This is for a 2001 Silverado. If I cut the ground I thought the positive then would be looking for a ground as someone tried to hot wire the truck.
