Should I change my transmission fluid and filter?

Hmmmm, well I have 265000 miles on my 1990,when I bought it it had 63000 miles on it
700r4
I have never changed it,or added any

Speaking of 700r4s. I just got my '91 going again. Won't go in reverse. Checked the fluid and not registering on the stick. I put two quarts in but still not registering. I'll have to pick up more tomorrow.
It should register cold right? I mean it'll read low but register.

I would atleast get it to the bottom line, drive it, and then check it again when warm. Do not overfill though

I had a ‘98 Chevy 1500 2wd. It came time for the first service so I took it to a quick lube and the flush machine had a piston inside a clear tube. I watched the old fluid go in the bottom and the new fluid push out the top.
The next day under mild acceleration something broke in the tranny and it had all neutrals.
The transmission had always slipped a little in first gear.
The new one the Chevrolet dealer installed slipped too.
