Should I wait to bed line?

So I'm tearing out the carpet and want to bed line the interior floor. I have some rust issues here and there that need to be addressed, but I won't be able to get to those for a year probably. I planned on just wire brushing the rust, tagging it with rust reformer, scuffing, cleaning and applying, and what continues to rust and chip, does. I imagine the front has some spots as well, just haven't tore that out yet (cause my trash can is full :doah:) Well I'm sure it does anyway, I know my rockers are toast.

Will it make it a pain later to get the spots fixed? Figure I could just bring the areas that need replacing back to bare metal, make the repairs, and re-apply those spots. I mean it's bed liner, should apply and "feather in" decently, it's no show truck. I don't care about the rest being a year's faded in color.

Oh and that filler neck is a seperate screw in piece I can get from LMC I guess? I see the screws and gasket thing on the top.. the bottom is too rusted out to see if it had a spot weld or screws, but it's one piece, so I assume it would be.

Just checked out prices, above statement still holds true, but for $89 bucks for the entire left and right section (each) that's not bad, tailpan is $150, get it all knocked out at once. I could just about swing that, but not ontop of paying someone, I've tried my hand at welding body panels, utterly suck at it, well at least with my cheapo buzz box, I just chase holes, and make the small holes bigger.

Man, sounds like a pain to bedline then fix later. But if its not in the cards, you gotta do what ya gotta do. Floor patching is a time consuming process for sure.

Yeah, I figured it'd be a PITA to remove it when I'm ready to do the work. But I know I won't be able to get to it for a while, just want some kind of protection on the floor. Took the topper off the other day, it'll be staying off until about October.

Guess I could knock off the rust where I can, some kinda rust encapsulator then put some rustoelum on, till I can get to it? I mean 30 years to get to where it is now, up to another year won't really matter, at least now it's not under carpet.

Just leave it till your ready, I wouldnt even mess with painting or rust encapsulation, good place for the water to drain :thumb:
