I can find partial pictures from other topics but no good pics focused on bumpstops and the fabricated brackets people use.

Also, it looks like some bump off of the axle and some the spring plate.

Let see those pics and input on which is better - axle or plate.

Ya'll always have great ideas I never think of.

Are bumpstops not a sexy enough subject.

To the top or I mean, TTT. :D

Here's mine! Or rather, where they were. :D

I think the vast majority of of people here just leave the stock bumpstops on their trucks. Probably the only people who add custom ones are the folks who get away from the standard leaf-sprung lifted trucks.

As far as location on the spring plate or frame, I'd say it doesn't really matter alot. Whatever works for your setup as long as you're preventing 1) axle/frame collision 2) suspension binding/overtravel 3) shock absorber limiting

The full-on race guys use some serious hydraulic bumpstops that actually damp out the last couple inches of motion, as opposed to just providing a rubber block to crash into.

I just used the bump stops that were on the truck and made new brackets. all of them contact the spring plates.

After making some suspension changes in the rear, I'm going to buy new poly bumps. If you search under bump stops on Summit's site, there are a bunch of options and quite a few for $12 or less a pair.

Haven't done anything on Big Ugly yet but what my friend did on his K5, and what I did on my Ranger, was to use the aftermarket poly bumpstops and if more distance was needed to space them down with something. My buddy made mounts for his rears but since I only needed about an inch I just used a Grade 8 mounting bolt to attach the stops and then put a large but slightly oversized Grade 8 nut between the stop and the frame. Worked well enough for me.

I added new 4.5" poly bumps when I bolted in the 6" Alcan springs under my truck. It looked good, and also looked like they'd contact the spring plates at a reasonable point of the uptravel.

I flexxed the truck using a forklift...damn flexy and all four bump stops miss the spring plates (and tubes and or anything that would make them functional.) :doah:

I will eventually have to space them down and farther outboard I guess. At least they 'look' good.
