Since I'm fixing to lift my Jimmy Im gonna need some steps. I have seen different styles here but never brand names/numbers etc posted. Please post a pic/link to what your have and how you like them or what you would recommend.

Home made :waytogo: 2x3 .250 wall slider with 2x2 .250 wall step rails. Keeps the body off of stuff better than just the slider. I use to have those Carr hoop steps, but I caught them everywhere.

to add to the question
does anyone have beef with the bolt on style rock sliders? That bolt to the body? I've been looking at all types also. Looking at welded or bolted to the frame too.

The ones i posted above are bolted on to the body ribs. They worked great for a long time, but I think the added leverage from the steps i added was too much. I'll snap some new pictures of their current status

I think I am going to weld them into the rockers, and run a couple pieces of tubing straight back to the frame. I'll have to take them off to see, but Im sure I wallowed out the holes in the body.

bummer
I like the design you came up with. Been a fan of the square "base" and round steps, like blazin offroad ones. These I like too. If you weld them to the rockers and to the frame, wont you have problems between the two flexing?

I fabbed my own out of some rebar, angle iron, and expanded steel. works out pretty well, and they're kinda sweet looking too. ill take a pic later on if needed

Maybe. I could put bushings in at the frame, but my cage is just gonna get welded to the frame the same way. Its a trail only rig. The bolt on way works, but would benefit from some bracing in the back to prevent what mine did.

those are nice but I dont have the skills to fab my own, anyone make some good ones I can buy?

I saw someone on here had a set looked like nfabs but more tucked up

Blazin offroad and DIY both make some nice sliders. Kert offers some with side steps like mine I believe.

wood cutting machinery around here ,don,t need rocker protection but have a step made off steel cable,to help get in the cab.hangs down about 1 foot must be about 3/4 inch cable with a step bar.

I have Deezee chrome nerf bars that suck. The chrome is already peeling off the aluminum and they haven't even been installed yet :doah:

I spent over $400 on them... If I could do it again, I'd get rockslider steps like AJMBLAZER did. you can find them in his build thread (they are from DIY4X)

Running boards rule.

Not.

My side rails bolt to the body and then have tubes running back to the body mount brackets, right where the body mounts tie to the frame. Like this:

I looked at those, but I just dont see how that functions as a step. I mean are they low enough to help any?

The units from DIY4X can have the kick out tubes at different angles to function better as a step. It's been a while, but I think you can order them up or down 25*.

I made some after I finished my tubing bender. They attach to the frame in 3 different points using 2in tubing.

Well it's up to you how much ground clearance you want vs. how easy it is to get in.
