I searched here and the ‘net already with no luck. Everyone discusses windshields and rear view mirrors.

While plowing today I bumped my driver’s side mirror against a tree and the glass popped off. It probably would have broken if the ground wasn’t covered in snow. Behind the glass it appears it was attached with just a few points of adhesive. Can anyone recommend an adhesive that would be up to the task? Ideally something that will cure in the cold, otherwise I guess I could remove the entire mirror assembly and bring it indoors.

Definitely bring it indoors. Screw on the bottom, take cover off... Then two bolts, to unbolt it.
I would probably just go to me local store and see what that say, as long it's a quality name brand.... 3M.... you should be fine..

Silicone works fine, I have also used double sided tape. Make sure to clean it with alcohol or solvent first and above freezing to make sure it cures.

I've used clear silicone caulking on my mirrors--I did the same thing, whacked the mirrors on trees or my garage door jamb while plowing, and the glass just popped out and didn't smash when it landed in the snow..

One mirror had the silicone come loose and the glass was ready to fall out again,so I scraped the old silicone off where GM had put the adhesive and did it over--then I ran a bead all around the outside edge of the mirror,to the housing, and smoothed it off with a wet finger..
Stuff I used was 100% silicone ,GE Brand,from Lowe's.

Someone did this to a mirror on my van before I bought it using clear silicone and its held firm since 1990 when I got the van..so I copied that idea..the skimpy amount of contact behind the mirror doesn't seem to be enough sometimes..it may not be "pretty" but looks aren't much of a concern to me,as long as it works..

that's funny, I also use the GE Silicone but only because we have cases of it at my work (appliance repair).

When our fleet was all Chevy Astro Vans, mirrors were broken regularly. We always used silicone, holds the mirror no problem but easy to scrape off next time the mirror is smashed again.
