Slight modifications......

Finished up the sliders. 2" x 4" x 3/16" rec tube, 1-3/4" x .120 tube and 1/4" plates on frame and slider. Will add some gussets.

Started on the cage......Now I remember how much I don't like bending tube by hand. Using 1-3/4" x .120 tube. Have kinda a plan in my head on how it will end up. Ran out of gas mix on Sunday so this is as far as I got.

Are those the custom lightweight links? you know the sched 40 kind?

Trying something new.....PVC links.....Should save a ton of weight and they won't rust.:D

There just for mock up. I have 2"x.25 for the uppers and 3"x.25" or 4"x.50" for the lowers, not sure which way I'm going yet.

Been awhile since last up date:doah: Pulled the tacked up cage off for final weld up. Ended up using 175' of tubing and 14lbs of mig wire.
The gantry crane I built really helped out with this.

This was couple weekends ago. This past weekend I replaced the floorboards and trans tunnel with sheet metal, installed dash, attached fire wall to the cage. No picts of that mess yet.

Done till next year.....

Next year I'm thinking about cutting the frame right behind the rear spring hanger and replacing the front half with tube. Running 14" or 16" ORI struts, Linking with 3 or 4 links. Lowering what's left of the sheet metal. Make new winch bumper.

My head is about to the top of the seat headrest, so about 4-1/2" to my head. It's tight in there. The outside of the rock sliders are as wide as the body on my CJ.

I just hope it holds together.:doah:

You going to be up for a ride this summer at Rausch?
Definitely, I took the maiden voyage a couple weeks ago and found some bugs to work out, but I think i squashed them all :pimp:

I already know I need a new shifter...And it's not even on the trailer yet.:D

I'm looking forward to getting this thing out on the rocks and see how the links work. I drove it around the house some and under hard acceleration it felt kinda neutral....Didn't swat and didn't lift.

That looks absolutely sick! You have many ideas flowing in my head now...

I've always said the best way to tackle big projects is.... Get a plan, get the major components, get it torn down past the point of no return, then set a unrealistic date to get it done by........Works everytime.:D
