Slight modifications......

Is anyone else not seeing any of the pictures in the last couple posts?

hosted on tiny pic so it's probably an issue with that domain.

Really unique cage work. Thing looks sick. Are you going to skin the rear of it to match the front fender sheet metal? I think that would look sick :smokin2:

I used to use photobucket but lately it seems very slow and sometimes doesn't work at all. So I'm trying this host site.....Looks like I might switch back since there seems to be a problem viewing.....Of coarse I probably just didn't load them the right way.

Wasn't planning on running anything.......But I'll see how bad the mud, rocks, atvs get kicked up by the rear tars this weekend. If to bad I might make some kind of wall behind the seats. If I do run any skins on the back end, they would have to be easily removable for replacement of the propane tanks.

My brother ran a back half'd K5 for a while who lives in WA with a lot of mud (pics below). He was getting really annoyed with mud flipping up and hitting him in the back of the head. He did a few things to enclose the rig behind him and then added some skins and it helped out a bunch with that. Plus, the cool factor jumped up 10 fold on the rig. His skins are easily removable. He just got some tube tabs from DIY4x and each skin is bolted down with I believe 6 bolts or so. Very easy to remove

Pics of his before the skins (you can see how he tried to enclose the rear a little bit in this pic...his was a K5 and still has the back seat in there too, so that's a bit different than yours but still something to think about)

And after the skins in the rear...like I said, made a pretty big difference with mud flipping up behind him and looks a heck of a lot cooler

Sorry for the thread hijack...

No hijack whatsoever......I remember reading that thread on that rig being built over on Pirate and the mud problem, I don't remember seeing the sides on the rear....Looks real good!!!!

Great now I have something else to do to the rig next year.....

You know, as if you didn't have anything else to do, then we come up with more things to do for ya :rotfl:

Your rig is real sick...please take more pics and vids of this thing in action :thumb:

Heading down to Harlan Kentucky this weekend, hope to get some picts.....Actually, I hope just not to break/set fire/roll/or die.:D

I'm at a point now where it's split between loving to work on the truck and loving to wheel it just as much. So I try and keep my projects to a couple of months at the most...That way you don't burn yourself out and loose interest.

It's time to start getting ready for this years beatings. No big project, just upgrading some problems.

First off, the front axles. Shattered the long side at Harlan and snapped a joint on the short side Rausch. These are just standard Splices shafts and joints.

So I'm going to replace with chrome moly and super joints. I would have loved to have used RCVs but can't afford them.

Next on the list of things.... The shifter.... I've been running this one for years, nothing wrong with it... Except it's a pain to shift quickly if needed.

The new shifter. I got it from RA Designs Products. I got the last one, he did say he would still make them but it would only be if someone requested it. Shame it seems like a good product. I'm going to have to build some kind of console to raise it up to the level where it's comfortable.

Now comes the fun part..... Wiring:rolleyes:.... I build my own winch solenoid pack 10 years ago. It worked fine, but looked a mess and took up a lot of room up on the firewall.

So I'm going to replace with a Albright solenoid. Plus add a power disconnect switch to the system.

Also the water pump just started to leak the last time I had the motor running. So I have to replace it too.

There's some other things I need to do too, but theses are the major ones for now.

I was looking at that shifter too. TH350 or TH400 trans?

350.... He claims no one has broken on yet. I'm going to file the square part ( At the D ) to a triangle to make getting to reverse and back faster.

Nice shafts...

The only pain was inserting the second snap ring into place. You had to do it after the joint is in the shaft... It's a tight fit so you kinda had to wiggle everything around a bit while pushing on the clip to get on the joint.

I think we are looking to hit Rausch memorial day weekend.... That's the word on the street right now at least.
