Hi ya'll
I've read through some of the serpentine belt threads and what motors came with what systems. The problem for me lately is finding a setup that contains an AIR pump. I've looked at several trucks around here, including astro vans and s10. I see the semi-serpentine belt setups (20% serp, 80% V belt) in the junk yards around here, most include the air pump.

I'm trying to find an accessory serpentine belt setup for my 400sb. Needs to include AIR, AC, alt, etc etc. Where should I search or do they not exist.

lol fyi: my 2001 s10 has AIR, but it's an electric motor.:doah:

thanks

Fwiw, when I was looking for brackets it seemed like all the '88+ 350 equipped trucks had the air pump while the 4.3 S10's did not.

My 89 has serp belt but does not have an AIR pump BUT the bracketry is set-up to accept the AIR pump still.

do you know if my factory '85 pump will work? I've seen several set ups like that, but no pump, figured there was no room for one on the bracket too.

The early astro vans and s10 have similar brackets to the sbc, serpentine belt, but no air pump. These don't even look to have a place for it.

Do these serpentine belt brackets hold the pump themselves? Or do they hold the older style brackets....which hold the air pump?

I've never seen a serp set-up with an AIR pump yet but from the looks of the bracketry it appears that the pump will bolt directly to the bracket. As if your 85 pump will bolt in place I have np idea but if you measure the center to center on the mounting location of your pump I could measure the bracket and see if it is the same. At that point you would have to come up with a serp pulley for the AIR pump.

EDIT: It appears to be about 5 5/8" center to center on the mounting points and they are 180* apart.

Ok just went a double checked the extra 305 I have. It came from a 91 or 92 caprice and it had the air pump on it. Bad thing is i throw the pump in the trash. Also the serp. brackets from will work for a TPI setup.

BAM THATS IT. :eek1:

my 92 tbi 305 caprice has the air pump and serp belt.

will go out and get pics for ya. :D

here ya go.

and fyi there is a diffrent mounting tab clocking for the alt from a reg pickup/blazer/burban setup. found out the hard way. :doah:

awesome stuff guys
much appreciated!!

So would my AC compressor work on these setup? The caprice I guess. I see it's a passenger side setup though. Would the CS130 or 144 alt work? It should, just maybe a wiring mod...

FYI: My 2001 s10 had the cs130. A 144 (140amp) alt is a direct replacement, only need a longer belt. Much bigger and better case to upgrade as well. Unfortunately my cs130 was my core :(

i did the cs144 upgrade on my plow truck. with truck brackets.

and thats a upgraded cs144. she is kicking 220 amp full tilt . and about 100 at 800rpm.

fixed my problem with wipers/heater/headlights/full light bar on at 1 time. :D the cs130 at 105 amp max couldnt do it.

direct swap if you have a cs130 now.

if not junkyard plug from doner and just swap it. thats what i had to do. as i hade 87 with old style alt. and had v-belts. swaped in both alt and serp belt stuff.

what do you think is a good price for all the accessories and brackets?
if you've seen any sold etc

i get my stuff from the pic -n-pull yard local.

if you go from v-belt to serp you dont need the p/s pump. just the pulley. and you need to pull the pulley to remove the left side bracket from the motor. you need the h20 pump and fan. reverse rotation.

and you need torx socket drivers for the studs in the block for the brackets.

last set of brackets was 35-40 for me. and the pump under 20 bucks. alts around 20 bucks.

nice info,
some questions now that you got my mind going
do I need a puller for that pulley or can it be done with a prybar?
the air pump and fan are reverse, so I need those, but what about a new reverse water pump then?
thanks
