How much of the slip yoke is prefered to be sticking out the back of a 208 tcase? Im sort of worried mine is too far in and may bottom out. I have about 1.5-1.75" of slip yoke sticking out. But the shaft sticks out past the case as well...is this okay for a lifted k5 or should i be looking for more?

If you unbolt the shaft from the axle and move it up in a straight line as if the rear suspension were being compressed to full bump, you would find the slip moves very little in comparison. Then take into consideration that the axle moves backwards slightly under compression because of the leaf spring design.

Here's a good test, take some white grease and lightly coat the slip yoke with it. Then take it for a ride, hit some good bumps. After that have a look and see how much movement the slip yoke made. Take pics, before and after, show us. :waytogo:

i will do that, but its not quite on the road yet, few more weeks. I did just go outside and i unhooked the axle end of the shaft and pushed it in til it bottoms out and i have a little over an inch from ride position to bottoming it out, do you think that is enough?

the more i look at it, it does seem like it will move very little, i visually followed the motion it would make as it was disconnected and it didnt seem to move it much.

Mine looks too far in also, haven't had a problem yet. Only pic I have...
