SM465/np241C to SM465/np205?

In the salvage yard today saw a '88 k2500 with what looks like the sm465 (with alum. top) and a driver drop 241c. Still had the bell housing but the clutch was on the pass. side.

Anyway I have a '86k30 sm465/np205 combo. My 465 is plenty sloppy and noisy. Needs an overhaul I'm guessing. I'm thinking about using the 465 from the salvage yard in my truck to reduce down time.

So my question is what is the diif. inthe two trannys. Is the rear output the same?? Would it be a straight swap??

The output is the same, but the top cover is different. You might be as well off to overhaul your 465, it's not very hard nor expensive.
