so i noticed my rear main seal was leaking... (400 sbc piece of crap)
and i got a wild hair up my ass and decided to pull the motor and i traded my remington 870 shotgun for a 350 shortblock the guy has a lot of parts
but i think im going to build it up for torque.

any suggestions??
i was thinking of this cam.

COMP Cams 12-235-2 - COMP Cams Xtreme 4x4 Camshafts

also while its all apart im pulling cab off frame and doing body mounts fixing the frame (couple tweaks) and actually getting the damn thing painted (rattle can od green)

Build the 400 best small block made...... er wait yeah its junk send it to me i'll throw it away

well, im going to take it all apart and check the cylinder walls and see if they are any good, i was thinking about boreing it out, but thats a small wall left over.

so if its in good shapeish ill put in for sale. im going to be using most of the bolt ons off of it to put on the sbc 350

Yep In my opinion its the only stock two piece main small block worth building . 6" rods and new pistons for a 406 , or destroke it a 350 crank for 377 ( my favorite) or get a stroker crank and take it up to 415+

They have nice flat torque curves and will flat scream . with the right head and valvetrain combo I have 3 running right now and 1 i'm building

I have:

377 with vortec heads
377 with AFR heads
406 with Dart iron heads
The new engine is till undecided

another thing i thought of, is the yuma az climate 125 degrees during summer i wont melt the thing down?

.040 is about max overbore on a 400 unless you sonic test them . even at .040" there is still plenty of meat left in the walls for a naturally aspirated street motor. as for cooling , a built 400 wont be any worse for overheating then an equally built 350.

well, i got this offer just now $300.00 for aluminum LT1 heads vonverted for gen1 sbc or stock iron heads, stock ported gm tpi manifold, stock tpi throttle body, AS+M Runners (arizona speed + marine) 22lb fuel injectors with fuel rails, distribtor cap, coil+rotor
i have my choice of 3 different cams, lifters timing chain, balancer, engine wiring harness, engine ecm, fuel lines, fuel tank, stock push rods, and stock rocker arms.

Mine is just a stockish rebuild. .040 over with oversized pistons and rings to match, summit 1103 cam, roller rockers and rebuilt 400 heads. Thing takes me up any hill at the dunes without going over 4k rpms in 4lo. Ive had it barely over 210 degrees only a few times. 180 all day long under normal driving conditions.
