Well guys I found away to do away with the switch in the head since GM no longer makes them . I found a switch that that I can plumb in to the thermostat cross over and will disconnect when the temp goes up . I am also using a relay to power the cold idle and timing advance . This way I don't have switches and wiring inside and it can handle the power that those need . I think a lot of the switches either burned up or connections burned up
 
for what its worth, not sure what year your block is. mine is an 87 and the switch is mounted in the head with no wires. the switch with wires on my year is in the coolant crossover. the 82 and 84 i parted out were all wired off the head
