Smokey The Crew Cab---- 90 V3500 6.5 Banks equipped(Cummins Swap in progress)

Jesus. If i had half as may projects as you my head would spin. Those axles are in my blazer. 4.10s and a gov-lock. I used my buddies shop one day after work and only got the front done. Death wobble? Changed the drag link of my 10 bolt and fixed that. I think I'm either going to add zero rate, shorten my rear shackles, or take some leafs out of the rear. Those front leafs were 4inch. My rear end sits a little high with Kert's 6.5" shackles. I gotta rebuild the front end when i get back. Hopefully ill make a trip out to you next weekend with that 203/12b/10b.

Come out anytime , always beer in the fridge!!

Gus you ever drive a truck down the road at highway speed with those upper door mounted mirrors? Just wonder how clear they are?

There ok, as long as the doors are not broken where the mirror mounts .
But they are noisy ( wind noise ) and ugly to boot there coming off when I repaint the truck

Ok so I got it home, My time off in town got cut short because of the big storm up here so I didn't get as much done as I wanted but the truck is driveable :D

On to the pics:

Pretty much every component in the interior was damaged, all the exposed paint came clean with some elbow grease. all the door weather stripping was ruined so I decided to swap doors , the truck needs paint anyways so I'll rock out the Technicolor dream wagon look for awhile.

The smell was horrible but lots of 409 and febreeze took care of it! there was no sheetmetal damage at all and all the wiring is perfect . The theives sprayed the dash with a can of aircraft stripper , ( i'm guessing they thought it was flammable) :doah:

Heres some pics of my "crew" Patty and My sister put in a ton of elbow grease hours cleaning and scrubbing the smoke damage.

Dokwatson and My Buddy John were a Big help too with gutting out the interior and helping me swap doors and gutting the donor truck

I mocked up the seats and 4 buckets will work but I'll have to mod the rear brackets just a bit to match the floor the rest is pretty simple .

I don't have a 240 outlet in my garage so I'll have to take the truck over to sledheadak's to weld in the burb bucket seat brackets . once thats done the floor will get herculined and Foil insulated and then a new floormat.

I dont have any pics but it is drivable now I stuck a bench seat up front for now and took it for a test run. its pretty ballsy I'd say it has a little more punch then my 12 valve did before I turned it up.

I still need to do a bunch of interior work but the smoke is gone!! and every thing but the oil pressure gauge works. it reads 20psi in the off position and 80 while running.

I stuck a autometer mechanical on it and read 60 PSI so I have good pressure. I'll mess with that later. I'm considering doing some sort of Aftermarket dash panel. Either Dakota Digital or a Blank Covans Classic dash with Autometer gauges .

I'm leaning towards the Dakota Digital if I can get the Tach function to work with the 6.5

Lots of work ,but at least the wiring is not all f`d up.

Will be a cool truck when your done.:thumb:

Yeah but the hard part is over now. I need to get the "new" headliner recovered
and the over head console installed those are the 2 things i'm not really looking forward too the rest is pretty gravy . Mechanically the truck is new so once I get the Interior and paint work the truck will be "done"

Although I think I may do a NV4500 or 4L80E swap next winter :doah:

nice to have a "crew" to help put Gus, coming along nicely, diggin the Banks setup too!

Thanks Zim, It was nice to have the help usually I do this kinda stuff by myself.

The Banks Setup is nice totally worth the money. I was a little worried about selling a cummins and getting a 6.5 but for my needs it should do great. eventually I'll get another Cummins powered rig but it will be a Common Rail

did that steering wheel survive?
I got one just like it, and like it pretty well.

Yeah it did actually it will need some polish to clean up but it was ok.

I put another steering column in it with tilt and the another wheel that is exactly like it.

I dont care for the wheel and when the Column is tilted up the shifter hits the steering wheel .

I will replace it when I find a 88-Up 4-spoke stock wheel. I prefer those better anyways

Ok , been driving this thing daily its awesome I still need to paint it and finish the interior and swap in a O/D trans but I'm getting a solid 19-20 Mpg and it pulls trailers very well
