snorkel mock up

I took 2 pieces of stainles and made my own the one that it came with
I had to beat almost flat and it split when i did.

Yeap that is what I did and then welded it back in the correct angle. I can remove any post in your thread if you want any of them gone let me know. Just trying to add. At first I was real nervous about doing the snorkel but now I know what i do heck yea I would do it again. Would love to compare the China made to the Safari snorkel. Only diff I see is the top intake..

Wish I had a better picture on hand.

I got mine all installed today.. I made a mess of my fender tho I didn't like putting the snorkel up high on the fender like all the pics I've seen.. So after I drilled all the holes I decided to move it down on the fender about another 1.5 in it looks better to me and it seems to fit the fender a lot better. I'll try to post a pic tomorrow I'm still working on hooking up air filter..

So I have to ask what inspired you guys to do snorkels??

I did mine mainly for fresh colder air. I have a 5.3 and the in coming air temps on my ultra gauge in the summer are reading around 140* so this should fix my problem and I'm not worried about getting my filter wet..

I am thinking it will help the truck run better with the fresh air flow and being colder it should improve mpg too.

I know it will improve power my truck is a dawg when air temps are that high when they get to 80* it's like it gains 50hp haha. I'm not expecting mpg to increase it gets around 14 now with 35s and 4.10s and aod of course.

playing in the water when it rained my carb sucked up a bunch and stalled the motor,i got lucky and it didnt hurt anything. this was probably the 4th time its happened so no more water in the motor when i play in the mud.

and thanks for all the info it helped alot. Now that i did mine people in town are asking me to put one on there trucks.:D

well it rained last night really good and no issues with water in the tube

This is my snorkel install note the hole are where I installed it and didn't like how it fit on the fender.I'm going to line the whole truck so I'll fix that before then..

Yeah I have it all hooked up like it should be now. Temps dropped here in Florida so engine is likening that colder air.. Feels like I have 50 more hp

Cool,i have been stoped a dozen times to see the thing on my blazer
I have also had to rivit the cap in place, some azzhat tried to take it at walmart

Yeah I've had some weird looks that's for sure.. I'm glad I haven't had the same issue but that's a good idea I might run a screw in mine.. My friend has a fj80 with one and he has been asked if it was exhaust haha

Well i had screwed mine in place and they were taken partway out and one was missing
Not to mention the clamp was messed with

well i have the final piece for my under hood piping, the accordion tubing would collapse under load like 4000 rpm.so i got an intake tube for a honda and made it work. i like it.:pimp:
