Nope sorry, guess my mileges were a little confusing. To get to the Grand Mesa you can take a few different ways. In this area none of the roads go straight from one place to another they wind around so the mileages get feaky. Lots of places that are 15 miles as the crow flies you have to drive 50 miles to get there.
1. I-70 east of Grand Junction you can take the exit for Hwy 330 and Hwy 65 toward Collbran and go over the mesa from that side. Nice drive thru some neat Canyon area then you go thru the town of Mesa with some great views and over the top of the mesa and come down Hwy 65 passing Cedaredge and a few other little towns ending up 4 miles east of Delta Colorado on Hwy 92.
2. You can take the Debeque cutoff from I-70 at the Debeque exit go to the south and that will take you thru areas that have interesting rock formations and end up at Hwy 65 near the town of Mesa then continue as described above.
3. You can take I-70 to Glenwood Springs then Hwy 82 south and east like you are headed to Aspen then turn onto Hwy 133 and you will come over McClure Pass thru towns like Redstone, Marble, Somerset, Paonia, Hotchkiss, In Hotchkiss take Hwy 92 toward Delta and after 16 miles you will come to Hwy 65 and take a right and go up over the Grand Mesa.
4. From Grand Junction take Hwy 50 south to Delta then Hwy 92 east for 4 miles to Hwy 65, then north.
5. Another good drive is Hwy 50 south from Grand Junction on Hwy 50 and near whitewater take Lands End Road, which is a windy gravel road but easily doable in a car that winds up to the top of the mesa and then it hooks up with Hwy 65.
The Grand Mesa is supposed to be the larges flattop mountain and stretches about 100 miles long, well over 300 miles of ATV trails and 200 reserviors, so if you like to fish, camp, hike etc its a blast. Winter there is a downhill ski resort, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, sledding, snowmobiling.
