So about 6 months ago I decided that my K5 (The Bitch) was just way to beat and abused... so after sorta wheelin' it 1 time after putting all of the 1 ton stuff in it, I parted it out and sold every little thing... including the D60, reversed hi steer, hydro stuff, etc...

REST IN PIECES...

So on Friday night around 11:00 a bone stock 86 4Runner pulled into my dads shop and we had big plans... First was to mount the tires, so I got a bar and mounted all 4 of them. 1 had a hole, so I would deal w/ that later.

Then we got the front of the truck up on stands and started removing the IFS...

Went to bed, got up Saturday morning and got serious with stuff...
Started out by taking my tire to Les Schwab to have the asshats tell me that they wont fix it, that it has to be sectioned (**** that). They wont sell me a patch, wont do $hit but piss me off...

Went back to the shop and started working on stuff...

Motor mounts were boxed it...

Front crossmember was welded on...
Saturday_14.jpg

Steering box brace was added...
Saturday_12.jpg

Shackle tubes were welded in...
Saturday_11.jpg

Springs got a test fit...
Saturday_13.jpg

Steering and tires were installed....
Saturday_23.jpg

Saturday_22.jpg

Crap... we got problems... We didn't realize exactly how far we moved the axle forward, so there were serious tierod to draglink clearance issues...
Saturday_24.jpg

So the box and the brace had to come off, and the coresupport had to get cut out...

Sunday started with the finishing of the steering box relocation, and then pulling the rearend apart and cleaning it up to weld the spiders...

Went up town and got a different guy at Les Schwab to sell me some glue and a big patch for a "Radial tractor tire that I have at home..." Then I took it and fixed it myself... Section repair my ass.

Here are some updated pics from this weekend. I got the rock sliders on, front and rear shock mounts (the F250 towers weren't tall enough, so I had to improvise with 2x3 1/4wall angle iron), seats installed, some wiring, stereo installed, a very little fender trimming on the rear, core support clearenced, wheel spacers installed, and a few other little things. I drove her the 180 mile trip home... with the stock 4.10 gears... she only saw 5th coming down Blewett Pass, but cruises nicely at 60-65 in 4th. Drives good for having chaned ALL the suspension, having unbalanced tires, no alignment, homemade driveline, etc... Gets a little tire shake at around 60, and has a little bump steer, but she is getting there!!!
Here are a few more pics...

I see the pics.
your moving along pretty fast there. looks to be a future beeter

Yeah, we don't screw around. It has a total of 7 days of work into it, and that includes the engine, clutch, suspension, steering box, sliders, seats, stereo, etc...

I am hoping tomarrow to build the winch mount, wire the lights, and install the front locker and then she is done for now.

Holy dear God. MAkes me feel lazy. I am complaining about having to replace a fuel line and you built a truck in a week. By the ways looks awesome. What size rubber is that?

haha sooo overhauling IS real.. damn dude thats insane. Plasma cutter and enough welding gas forever? i always end up running out and having to use a 4" angle grinder to cut everyting haha.

The tires are 11.00R16 Michelin XZL's. They measure out on the truck w/ 30lbs of air on a 7" wheel to exactly 38" tall... so about the same as a 39.5 TSL but skinnier

is it just me or am i the only one seing pics of a toyota? traitor

j/k i am diggin' that rubber i have never seen the xzl's are they really heavy like the other mil spec tires?
