I just wanted to say that I think this site is great. I have been lurking for awhile and have found lots of great info.

My problem is that I can't seem to get the calipers off a dana 60 I recently purchased. I found one allen head bolt but thats it. Am I missing something?

I feel like the dumbest person in the world because all the other calipers I have taken off have been super easy.

im sure someone will answer this before i get home, but if not, ive got my D60 in the back yard and ill take a look for you, see if theres something hiding it or something along those lines.

Depending on how long the D60 has been sitting, sometimes the pads will rust to the rotor, a good solid "tap" with a 5lbs sledge normally pops em off. or a pry bar between the rotor and the caliper, slid in length wise from the front or rear.

welcome to the forums :D

EDIT - wait, the allen is probably to remove half the caliper, to change pads. im pretty sure to remove the whole caliper, you remove to large hex head bolts, the mount the caliper to the caliper mounting bracket.

Once you take that allen bolt out, the peice slides out, and there should be some type of shim that comes out with it. you can tap it out with a flat head and a hammer.

remove allen bolt.

take a punch and tap out the wedge & spring on the bottom of the caliper 90* from the bolt position.

then lift the caliper up and tilt out the bottom and pull it out and away.

easy to do.

hold onto those DRW hubs, or send em to me :)

they are gold for someone wanting to run H1 beadlocks without spacers or recentering the rims.

i got a extra set if you want them . shipping will prob kill it tho. pm me if you want.

naw, i dont NEED another set, i already got a DRW D60, but if he was just gonna junk em, it never hurts to have parts handy for the next project, ya know? ;)

Yeah, when I got my dana 60 , I was like w.t.f... then I read on here how to take it apart. pretty simple by the time you do both sides.
Another reason I pay membership here, great people great info.
