So I shaved my dash today...

So how is shaving your back tech? oh wait, thats your dash!:haha:

when i read the title, i thought it was about chopping the sheetmetal for reduced weight or something. but this is much better. entertaining and functional. shaving the dash. hahahaha:haha: :haha: :haha:.

Avery,

Who's boxes did you use? Or did you build your own? Any info appreciated

They were made by a shop here in town...any car audio shop could whip em' out for you though...I picked it up from a guy here in town so I don't know what the original price was to have them make it...

Oh and btw I had to click my seat up a notch or two to get it to fit.

I don't know about the dash but I sure am jealous of your gas gauge.

in other words "hope youre short"

No...in other words an FYI that you have to click the seat up w/ 12's...I'm 6'-1" and I'm fine...of course the smaller steering wheel and tilt helps too :)

Ok...being sarcastic about the gas guage?

Of course not! Mine always reads on the E for some reason...

I must admit though, I split my gut laughing when I saw your "Shaving" technique :P

lol...well what other technique is there? :)

Have you cleaned the contacts? If you pull the dash off you can reach through the big opening around the center vent/duct work and unplug the wiring harness that goes to the switch for the tanks...then clean it up...oh wait...this may not be relevant b/c you might not have saddle tanks....anyways though I did this and I've never had problems w/ the guage or switching. Sometimes it doesn't get pushed all the way but I just push until I see the guage start to move.

I'm making this post a sticky....

Awesome dashpad tech! I think we'll need a formal Tech Article for the site.

Lil Avery, it takes balls to post a thread like this! :waytogo:

You gave me a good laugh this AM.

Is this some kind of Fresno thing? A guy I work with recently bought a 1990 K5 from a kid in Fresno that had the same crap glued everywhere (doors, dash, headliner, etc.), only it was all white. Then he had mounted a blacklight where the domelight was. :haha:

Yeah..its a fresno thing...I believe a couple of the clubs do it but I know of one in particular that all run S10's layin' frame that have this...the one I saw the other day had it on the headliner, dash, doors, everything!
