So I used my last transfer case adapter gasket

I didn't think there was a gasket between the transmission and Tcase?

Theres rubber O-ring(thats actually a square ring) but I have never used a gasket. Just right stuff the hell out of the oring and mounting surfaces and put them together.:thumb:

Right stuff was used. So we will see.

Just looked funny putting sealant out of a cheese wiz can on my truck.

Once the right stuff cures I think you could remove the bolts and it would stay there.

It's that good. Only thing we have found to keep the diffs sealed on the race car. They get bashed so much that everything else we tried leaked within a few hits. Right stuff still will have a weep after KOH but we can re tighten the bolts and it seals up again.

As long as it was sealant and not black cheese you shoul be good. I've used the Right Stuff before for diff covers, valve covers and cam covers on my Harley. No leaks on anything

In fact it's good enough that it's a pain to service diffs on the intervals we have to on the car and we're putting pry points and jack bolts on the covers so we can get the damn things back off.

I think the factory only used an O-ring a the back of the 700 so the o-ring + great stuff should be just fine.

there is a square cut o-ring like said on tranny to tcase adaptor side.

then there is a paper gasket from tcase adaptor to transfercase.

if your doing reg service look in to lube locker gaskets . thay seal good and can be reused.

Right stuff was used to get it back on the road. This was the adapter to t-case. We will see if it works.

Wheeling tomorrow up Pikes Peak then into the forest somewhere.

They don't make the lube locker for a trimmed 14b or a dyna trac pro rock 60 so no luck there. Which sucks cause we're in the diffs before every race.

That's where I use a vacuum sucker.
But yeah, the right stuff made me invest a small fortune in good wire wheels.

I found spraying with a quick coat of gaskets remover helps

We've got a sucker, it's really the fact that in our sport we have to inspect the ring and pinions constantly. We have gotten really good at getting diff oil out cleanly, filtering and re using when we find everything was fine. It's tough to dump an entire diff full of expensive fluid 4 or 5 times a year in the waste oil heater.

I think we're unto three d60 ring and pinions and now 1-14b ring and pinion in the last two years. Severall d60 sets were missing teeth off the pinion and the 14b that we found the other night had two cracked teeth on the pinion.

The shock loads in the rough stuff are big.
