So Mobil1 isn't good enough for you, eh?

Mobil 1 is good oil. I personally use Amsoil in my truck with good success sofar on extended drain intervals backed by OA's. I have 3 OA's on my truck with Amsoil 15w-40 diesel oil, amsoil EAO filters, & fleetguard filters. All 3 tests were performed with at least 13,500 miles on the oil and the last one was 18,000 miles. All test came back just fine and all tests said the oil was still suitable for continued use. This is WITHOUT a bypass oil filter setup which can extend drain intervals even farther.

I am a dealer of Amsoil but, I don't really sell it for profit but I have gotten it for close friends of mine to use in there junk. I use it in my DD Dodge Cummins and that truck makes me my living. If I didn't think the oil was good stuff I wouldn't use it in my truck that helps bring home my paycheck or get it for close friends of mine.

I currently have Redline Shockproof Heavy gearoil in my K5 and it is GREAT stuff too. Like mentioned before it is VERY clingy. I will probably continue to run Redline gear oil in my K5 because Amsoil doesn't offer a gear oil in a similar weight. The Redline stuff is for race apps and is roughly a 75w-250.

People change their oil?

Who changes their oil?

I just changed mine after 4 years

No where near 3000 miles though
Hopefully the filter is still good becuase I didn't bother to change that :haha:

the oil has been around for a few million years, so I could worry about the filter before the oil..

snip.......

Now, that being said, what has impressed me is the yota trans sitting on the garage floor. It was drained by it's PO prior to being pulled. It then sat for nearly 6 months b4 I got it. Not knowing it had been drained I pulled the plug. Some weird red stuff came out. Turns out it was Redline gear lube. Fast fwd over a year. It's still leaking gear lube out of the rear where the t/c used to be. I'm impressed as hell that this stuff is that clingy. It doesn't look or behave in the bottle any different from any other gear lube. Yet a year and a half later it's still dripping gear lube.
Just to update, the flow out of this trans has reduced to not much, but once in a while I still find a small puddle of oil under it. The more amazing thing is that only recently has the t/c stopped oozing, and it was totally torn down & rebuilt (though never bolted to the trans)!
Based on all two of my experiences with M1 I feel it would be foolish to expect that same thing from it.
Amsoil may or may not have great products, but their marketing is a total turn-off for me. I have no intention of ever trying it. This isn't an analytical decision, it's an emotional one & only likely to become more entrenched by badgering.
