So much rust

1989 k5 blazer
I'm liking the diamond plate floor.

Yeah I like the diamond plate turned out really nice and I like the extra support it has too there are no soft spots where you can feel the floor moving

Are there any recommendations on new fuel lines I just had a leak and I know I need to change the lines sooner then later I am going to do the lq4 motor change when this motor dies but the fuel lines are not going to wait

I ordered new stainless lines with AN fittings to convert from carb to FI. Being in Chicago where salt is a huge issue nylon wrapped may be a good option. I would have gone nylon if I would have thought about it before buying stainless.

I saw the pre bent lines for $225 from linestogo but I know those will be rusted again in a few years I will check those nylon lines out thanks

I put my new rear window sash in and I think I figured out why the last one broke it’s getting caught up on the regulator right in the center so I’m guessing there is a part missing on my regulator

I’ve been having hardest time tracking down this tick which I thought was a lifter or something worse but it only makes the noise when it’s hot and never very loud but it has been getting worse all of a sudden and after checking everything on top of the motor I couldn’t figure it out but today I finally found out what tick is it’s the harmonic balancer is bad I took the belt off and it disappeared no ticking at all and after looking at the balancer I found the rubber is blowen out

I don't think that the rubber of the balancer will cause a noise that would go away when the belt is off. I would bet that there is something up with the belt or one of the accessories that is driven by the belt. I would still replace the balancer, but I wouldn't be surprised if the noise is still there.
What style of belt drive do you have?

Yeah I found the tensioner pulley was going bad too and I replaced it last night but it’s not just the blown rubber it’s also shifted too a bit I just wish I had a nicer day to be able to fix it in the driveway so it’s going to have to wait a few days

I looked, but I don't see it. What year is your truck? And it sounds like it has serpentine belt drive, correct?

I hear ya about the weather, I have to take mine to work to get any bigger projects done in the winter.

1989 and yeah it’s just the single belt and I wish the city where I live would let me build a bigger garage to play in but they said a 5 car garage is too big

I personally wouldn't worry about changing that balancer immediately, just as soon as weather permits. Lots of them have the outer ring offset slightly when new. But the rubber being in poor shape is definitely a sign to replace it.
I had my '95 had the idler go bad and the whine came right up through the transmission shifter and made me think that I had a trans issue..

Me being me I couldn’t let it sit in the driveway I had to fix it before it drove me nuts I just want to know if this is in fact 100% the noise because if not I’m just going to shelf the truck for the next couple of months and take the body off the truck and then drop in the lq4 I have waiting

I started to lose oil pressure out of no where and after dropping the oil pan I found out why the pickup tube completely fell off the oil pump

Well all my work and time for nothing I figured I would change the oil pump while I Had the pan off and turns out that the low oil pressure killed the motor so I doing the last swap now

Well crap!
Did you find this out before you put it all back together? Rather than on a test drive?

No no signs of it when it was apart put it all back together and started to drive I had 50 psi of oil and maybe 2 mins in I’m at a stop sign on my way back and the motor starts to knock really bad and I have 0 psi at idle so it’s time to just start tearing down the truck and take the body off and I’m also going to put a 4 inch lift on I’m think rear flip shackles with ez springs up front
