So much rust

1989 k5 blazer
I just need to finish up by the firewall and the floor will be all done just need to make the new seat mounts and put the doors and fenders on for the winter

Nice job! Mine was about as bad as well. Glad I did it but jeez what a headache. Did you already do the quarter panels as well or still to do? That will be my next big metal work on mine...whenever that time comes

I have the quarters sitting in my garage right now that I want to separate the inner and the outter and clean them up and paint but I’m not going to jump into that until spring when it gets a bit warmer. I was thinking of just patching the couple of holes and give myself a little more time to prep the new ones

Still have to Bedliner it in the spring but I’m happy with it and that trap door will be nice when I install the 1/4 turns

The tailgate is the worst but the quarters have pretty large holes but I knocked the power steering line fitting the fender back in today and didn’t realize I cracked the line but I started the truck and it just exploded

Honestly I might be interested your passenger side rear quarter skin if you are going to scrap it. At least from the wheel arch back. Back 8 years ago or so I was young and dumb and slide the back end of the truck into a parking bollard during a snow storm. I could use that plus a patch panel for the wheel arch and front area to repair mine. Aside from that damage ours are about the same rust wise.

Where about in Chicago are you? I've got family up in Chicago as well as my girlfriends parents up in Sycamore/Dekalb area. Will be up for the holidays. I'm all the way down south in Marion.

I’m in oak lawn, there is damage in almost the same area as your I will take a picture of it for you

Dang, yeah I'd have to pass on that unfortunately. I look forward to your quarter repairs for sure though. Keep up the good work!

There is a guy in northern Illinois parting out a k5 on Facebook marketplace the quarters are rusted over the wheel but no dent
