Rene, are you back to work?

Yes Wayne...I found another job. It's farther from home, pays much less and has a brutal shift rotation. All the shifts are 10 hours and everyone works a mix of days and afternoons....sometimes in the same week. /forums/images/icons/confused.gif

It pays the bills and they treat me alright so I shouldn't complain too much though.

How have you been?

Rene

I think Baddog said it best: (as it relates to the pics in a post)

The picture thing (pics *in* a post) keeps coming up again and again. I just want to add (again) that pics showing up inside a post doesn't need to cost CK5 a single cent. Members could get the ability to cross link pics from other sites and have them show up in the post as a pic, not as a link to a pic. Non-members could still insert links to pics or other pages just like all of us do now. Members get the nice stuff (like pics in a post at no cost to CK5), and it is VERY obvious/cool/beneficial/appreciated. Non-members are not seriously impared since they can still link to another page/pic but the difference is obvious since pics can not appear in a post. The only drawback is that some "free" sites (like webshots) do not allow cross-links for that very reason. Cross-links allow one site to (essentially) use storage space and bandwidth of the targeted site. However, almost every ISP account in existence provides 10MB or more of space for a personal web page. Many ISPs also allow you to have multiple email accounts, and you often get 10MB *per email account* on a single ISP account (typically included in your (common) $19.95/mo.). Over 95% of these "personal web space" accounts go completely unused! That's where we should be putting our pics! We're already paying for it and not using it! And you can cross-link those pics if Steve’s forum software would allow it. That's where most of my pics are going. I'm only keeping a very few *current* and (hopefully) interesting pics of my truck on the CK5 gallery just for those who browse it or whatever.

So, my understanding is that we need to link pics to our own web-page provided to us by our own Internet Service Provider. Correct?

Steve, is this a members only thing?

You da man! Thanx buddy, I feel so loved! /forums/images/icons/blush.gif /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Right now, the pics in posts is for everyone because the forum sofware does not allow me to set those things by groups, I have asked the authors to do that but that might be a while, I am thinking about hiring a programmer that could do this that is very familar with the forum software, just have to find out how much he charges, of course as soon as I do this it will be standard in the next release or something.
My next upgrade is going to be the gallery software and it will be integradded with the forum passwords so that will make life easier for everyone, I could even offer a plan like 10meg per month for 10.00 per month but not sure how much interest would be there because you could get that plan anywhere.

thanks for all your hard work steve /forums/images/icons/smile.gif you are doing awesome /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

I interperted his question to be the same as I was wondering.
"Does linking images from another site cost you(CK5.com) bandwidth?"

Shouldn't no. But if you link from the member gallery then yes.

Oooohhhhhhh...... /forums/images/icons/blush.gif
I C. So thats why my pics only work once in a while huh? Dangit. /forums/images/icons/mad.gif
